Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

'What in the hells? What cause could anyone have to delve beneath the standing stones? And what opportunity? Has no sojourner in the wilds' - Niall looks to Anya and Lucas - 'remarked it, and so close to town?' He rubs the bridge of his nose, massages his eyes, in apparent vexation at this undue complication.

At Anya's report, he speculates uncertainly, 'Banging - a smith?' To Robern's suggestion - 'Agreed. The living will give us more answers than still passages, though I should like to return here if there is not another entrance, as you say.'

I'm just going to post modified totals, if that's okay.
Perception = 0, lol
Knowledge (history) = 14

Should we establish what we know of each other and/or what our motivations are for heading on this adventure? Niall would have explained frankly that he is seeking his brother, Kile, and cares not who accompanies him, though he would welcome assistance.

You know the standing stones are creations of the Cairn Builders, the ancient people of the area. The villagers typically shun this place, but most would never contemplate defiling the ruins; ill luck, that.

I propose we walk carefully towards the banging noise. I'll use "detect magic" if/when we get within range of it

Lucas has his attention drawn towards the banging noise, and starts to head off in that direction with the others until the mention is made of the pulley system in place, walking over to quickly examine it himself he turns to the others.

while I understand not wishing to lower ourselves down this line, is it not worth our time to use the pulley to raise whatever is at the end up incase it aids our investigations?

I could try a "detect magic" here to look for a magical trap if you want to use that pulley. From what I understand I can use my level 0 spells as much as I like

The very faintest of faded something glows in the glyphs carved into the standing stones, but the pulley, rope, and hole all seem completely mundane; no sign of any magic.
Indeed, cantrips are "at will", so infinity uses a day.

Even "guidance" and "flare" ? Getting +1 on my attack rolls saving throws and skill checks, and enemies getting -1 attack on me infinitely is pretty strong

You'll often start with your first hit Guidanced, aye, but note they're standard-action spells. So you cast one, you're not attacking, or running fast, or hitting with a higher level spell. The way the action economy works, they tend to be low-priority casts in combat.

Ah yes that makes sense thanks.

'Certainly,' Niall replies to Lucas' suggestion, half-turning from the direction of the faint, distant banging. Niall waits for a sign from Anya that the pulley is safe, then lends his arm to lifting it.
