Lurker Thread [SPOILERS]

Definitely need to let them know and make their own minds up about restart; though TBH I'd guess they're too far into the game now to want to do that. Besides, it's an interesting variant as long as it doesn't favour Russia too much.

He's Russia, which gets double quantity of strategic resources.

chumchu, you want to announce something to the players in the info thread, or should I?

I expect they'll take a "bring on the variant" attitude, but we'll see what they decide.

This little blooper roids Russia so much that I would grant a restart even if only one person asked but let's see smile.

*mjw wonders what's the point of asking for permission if your just going to do it anyway*

Ichabod's attack is a textbook example of liberty using its better early/mid game production. He should be able to grind off the other guy off the face of the earth now...

Do you have any general thoughts on Liberty vs. Tradition in a MP environment at this point?

How much of Ichabod's success was a result of him going liberty to my tradition vs. going liberty to my tradition AND being Persia? Having 3-move units was huge but is at the same time difficult to quantify.

In terms of looking at the broader game: I think it's difficult to not think Ichabod has this sewn this up with his production advantage.

 - Pindicator doesn't seem to have the wherewithal or resources to oppose him.
 - HAK is inexperienced.
 - Yuris is enthusiastic, but keeps making weird strategic decisions. I give him credit for losing a city to Nic and maintaining his interest. I just don't know how he's going to ever get enough faith to make his holy warriors approach pay off.
 - Nic seems to be the strongest on the western continent, but his edge over his immediate neighbors is not as pronounced as Ichabod's over Pindicator. Maybe I would be more confident if he had reported recently and I could see what he's doing, but it seems like he's just toodling along.

Not really specific to MP, just what I said before that Liberty frontloads more than one might think and it matters more than one might think particularly in MP.

I might quantify Persia's extra-move ability as roughly equivalent to having 1 or 1.5 extra units for each city attack.  They can move everything in range to shoot at the city about 1.5 turns faster, saving about one death since the defender can typically kill about one unit per turn.  That could be compared to other abilities like Germany's barb unit conversion or Russia's strategic resource hammer.

And yeah, I don't see how Ichabod loses from here.  It would take a multi-civ dogpile against such a leader, but that can't happen here with the others far away on another continent.  And you have the Mexican standoff problem that the first of those three to move against Ichabod leaves himself open to a backstab.

lol Ich-something won't take out Russia now. You ruined everything Dave.

(Too bad he would win the game in a walk anyway...)

lol @ yuris for thinking about offering peace and not giving up. Pindi is about to die (his score is lower than Dave's now...) and having 1/2 of the map all by yourself is just too much.

Dave ditching could have had a real impact if yuris's attack didn't fail but it did.
