with that kind of area per player? That would work. PB39 feels a tad big, but pb38 was huge.
Do we want to stop at 12 players?

Mapsize should depend on the number of players, obviously. I think that 12 players can be out target but 7 players is, actually, already sufficient to have a good game.
I would actually prefer to have a map with a little bit more breathing room than we usually have. I do not feel that these early wars add much to the game, they just make it more rng-based. Also, close starts is the thing which makes people overly obsessed over "balance".

Reporting for duty, Xenu as teammate. Willing to entertain ded-lurkers as well with the occasional need to press said ded-lurker into the rare turn playing duty.
Who's gonna roll us a map?

Wait you described this like our PB11 two player succession game "team" that obviously worked out so well. This sounds like you want me to actually work with you instead of just changing all your builds every time I log in.

Yes. That would be helpful. Though I still contend (and will until my dying day) that we got hosed pretty badly on that map and never had a chance anyway.

I can't promise about being a team but yes we'll be operating one civ.
Edit: It may help with my planning to keep a separate thread to keep it clear of BGN's "micro" clutter.

Two people operating the same civ, with separate threads, and who don't communicate with each other except through in-game moves?
