But seriously, I think that together with Ruff and Kalin's Team, we're the only teams that didn't go worker first.

By turn 12, eight teams haven't had a score increase yet (nine if you count Korea), five have had score increased by 6 (which means tech discovered).

I hope we can catch up with them, especially since I'm sure they all went BW first...

It's an gamble. I'd rather be "behind" on worker actions than out of comission ala Korea!

I haven't got access to Civ right now, so I guess we'll have to wait till Dazed opens his sleep-crusted eyes and drags himself to his computer... 8)

hindsight's 20/20. if nobody pops their head out of the fog around the capital in the next 5 turns then worker first would have been the right option, but we couldn't have known that at the time. with 16 other teams out there starting with a warrior is the right call. especially since we don't have a "reputation" that might put people off from attacking us. the game isn't won in the first 15 turns, but it can certainly be lost

on the bright side - having 2 units out there scouting is a definite advantage. we got a raw deal on the scout combat (i think on average he'd come out with 50% health) but at least he's still alive.

our leader/civ combo is a long-term deal. things will look a lot better for us once those cottages go up and we can finance some real city expansion + a push to courthouses

You're right ofcourse, and in any case, we couldn't have gone worker first because besides farming all that's farmable, he wouldn't have a lot else to do for a long time...

Hey the lion moved next to where the intended move for Tricky was. We'd be on forest so we'd probably win, but I don't want to just assume the team is for it. Thoughts?

this is really ticking me off

the problem is we'll need to explore that area anyway, and we won't have anything better than a warrior for many turns. i don't see any forest hill tiles around to engage the lion from, so i'd be tempted to just take my chances now.

all good with Cortes? we should be able to see anything coming.

Cortes is chillin like a villian. I'll wait a bit to see if Ilios chimes in and then we'll move towards the lion.
