Don't they, Germany is NE ish and CFC is E for a Diagonal border or are the locations not perfectly grid? I don't know if the C&D is 100% up to date with the location of each team

I don't get the impression that CFC and team .de share a border. Inca is to the north/northwest of us, CFC's India is to the east/southeast, right?

I thought they were N and E respectively.

This is exactly how I was expecting us to play the game anyway.
Yeah, but with the Germans I think we should go out of our way to be provoking, and we try to dominate all the land around them culturally. Maybe we should give the next cities up their way names for games with the goal of a cultural victory? We can start with RB Sweepstakes.

I've been pretty vocal about my disdain for the German team with their clock shenanigans, but in-game I advocate for a calm, stay the course response. Only do what is in our economic best interest. We can hang the Germans out diplomatically and pile on later if everyone still feels this irritated toward them. As annoyed as I am, I want to win, so let's just run our race.

Strategically, it seems like it would be better to concentrate first on settling AWAY from the germans and WPC, since as long as they're at war we don't need to worry about them grabbing city spots. Unless, of course, we want to try and provoke the germans into breaking the NAP...

Exactly my thought, given that ridiculously-long NAP to T150 (but then we didn't know they'd develop like they did). Someone will run over the Germans sooner or later, and if it happens sooner we should get as big a slice as possible before they disappear.

There's a push in the Turn Discussion thread to get big-picture inputs before the micro team has dailed in worker turns and such.
I want to encourage more discussion without adding burdens to Sulla and the other wizards working behind the scenes. This thread was buried on page 2 of the subforum, maybe it's the best place for people to discuss plans before they come up in-game, but without muddying the micro thread.

We are looking at finishing Taj Mahal around roughly T138-140, and will most likely pop into Nationhood at the end of that Golden Age (Turn 145ish). Then we keep drafting until we discover Assembly Line tech and get the combination of 2 pop drafted infantry and factory/power plants make drafting no longer appealing. That will be very, very far down the road. After Turn 200 in all likelihood.
It's not like the other options in the Legal column are all that compelling either. Vassalage is unnecessary since we'll be running Theocracy (and we have Shwedagon Paya for all religious civics). Bureaucracy loses most of its appeal on a Huge map where we'll have at least 20 cities, and potentially many more. I think we'll have 40-50 cities before this game is fully over. The economic alternative is Free Speech, and that's a good civic in its own right, but it pales to the ability to dial up endless waves of drafted maces/muskets/rifles on command. Remember, we're the runaway civ. Teams are going to be coming after us. Now that our Heroic Epic is done, I fully plan for us to be #1 in Power rating for the rest of the game. Make it look like any attempt to attack our team is completely hopeless before it even begins.
Just bringing this over to a more relevant thread.
I think adopting Nationhood and Theocracy towards the end of our Taj Mahal golden age sounds good. I'm not sure how long we'll want to stay in those civics but that's best judged later.
Should we try to tech Gunpowder by the time we start drafting? That might mean getting Gunpowder (via Education) before getting Guilds.
I have to run.

Not sure about that. Drafted macemen are pretty decent. Our techs after liberalism are probably metal casting, horseback riding and machinery. After that then it seems better to get gunpowder via feudalism+guilds since guilds is obviously great for the knights and researching guilds before gunpowder gets us the pre-req discout.
