It was an amazing game up to that point.

They are gonna give the win to CLG by the crash rule.

That ending was pretty abrupt, but I think CLG had the win in any event. It's too bad they couldn't keep the finals crash-free, but overall, it was a fun tournament, and I think the best team ended up winning. The North American teams seem to have done a great job in adjusting and improving their game since Dreamhack; EU better start practicing!

Yep, good game with lots of spectacular team fights after the admittedly boring start. It looked like CLG picked a good hero setup to counter the opponents' poking strategy.

I haven't played LoL for forever, so I probably have not enough knowledge about it, but I really wondered why TSM took that kind of setup into the last game. I had the feeling they lost every teamfight simply because they could not bring down anyone of CLG.
The same goes for letting CLG have Kog'Maw in game 2. I was really wondering that - after they played game 1 and used him well - they neither took him nor banned him. Even worse I felt was the Nidalee pick in game 3. They should rather have banned her and took Kog'Maw again, especially as Kog'Maw first probably would prevent CLG from going the tanky-route, opening it up for themselves.
Of course as I said I have not enough knowledge about the game to be sure my conclusions make sense, but I thought I'll through it out anyway and see what you guys think.

Just started catching up on these tourny matches. Any good non-TSM matches I should watch?

After watching some of those matches (including the final) I believe I understand why Riot aims to introduce the new game mode with more immediate action. I personally find it rather boring if first blood occurs only past the 15 minute mark. After that, the matches usually become pretty exciting and it is interesting to see that even one little mistake can have big consequences.

I actually feel the opposite way; Riot is trying too hard to remake the gameplay to create a faster, less passive early game. This is an impossible task though - the very nature of these kind of games (MOBA: Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games) dictates that the early portions will be slow and passive. That's due to a couple of cornerstone rules of the gameplay:
* Champions with items are much stronger than champions without items. This always has to be the case or the gameplay falls apart.
* Items are acquired through gold. Gold is accumulated through farming minions.
* Ergo, playing passively and farming minions for the first 15-20 minutes will always be the strongest early game strategy.
You can't really change these dynamics. If Riot crushes healing as they've planned, the metagame will simply switch to different champions, and then it will be back to passive farming as usual. If you change things around (make kills worth massive amounts of gold) then good players will be even MORE defensive, to avoid putting themselves behind. Basically it's like the expansion phase in Civilization or other empire-building games, something that's inherently part of the gameplay. You want to expand quickly in Civ to get the growth curve going; you want to farm to get your key items going in LoL.
Perhaps Dominion will be differently, but you know what? It looked pretty uninteresting to me as a game mode. There's no farming, just constant teamfighting and pushing. It felt like ARAM to me, too much fighting going on, not enough strategy. I could be in the minority, I actually like the farming phase and find it interesting. You can't win the game there, but you sure can lose it.

Well the laning phase tedium is more the fault of the current metagame than anything else, that last match had healers on both sides in every lane. So no one was even able to do any significant damage and the commentators were struggling to find something interesting to say.
a Corki vs MF lane, say, is much more interesting than Udyr vs Vlad.

You also get added gold automatically at a certain speed if you don't farm anything. As far as I can tell from the videos, this speed is greatly increased in the dominion game mode, thereby changing the relative value of farming.
While it's certainly up to personal taste if you like farming or not, it seems at least from a viewers point it's not very beneficial to the excitement of a 40 minute game, if 20 minutes are spent farming lanes with no deaths across the board.
