Yup, I have managed to kill 2/3 of our priests smug. So only 1 High Priest if we go there... I don't think it's worth it. I'd rather use ToD for Strenght of Will. The great sage from the tech after sorcery (forgot the name) should be still available too.

For collateral, we could flip our Entropy node to Fire or Air.

How much are we willing to commit to defending Evermore and the southern coastal city? They'll be pretty hard to protect if Falamar comes through Thessa.

I assumed. We've got a lot of moving parts at the moment, easy to miss one thing here or there. I wouldn't have bothered looking for things like that if the situation were simple.

Yeah, I agree that Elementalism is probably our best next target.

Well...we've got to kill the Lanun units somewhere. If we have a better killing field to the north, I'm fine with abandoning those two, but if it just means we retreat and face the same battle with fewer cities, I'm less happy.

Ah, for some reason I thought we got 4...definitely agree on SoW, then. From Orthus kills I think we should be able to get Archmages quickly, too.

Air over fire, IMO. Air I is a (slightly) more useful spell, too.

I agree with Mardoc on the South. Important also to keep in mind Falamar's war with Thessa - he won't move fast through her. Besides, with Slow/Rust/Summons, a slow, harrassing retreat would be to our great advantage. And those are some mint cities, too.

I have now managed to end every paragraph with too, too.

yikes. Ok, this is going to take a couple days to play. Planning to get started on it tomorrow night.

We have metamagic now! So we can do both!

Air first, yeah. But fire has a role too.

We should get a lot more cultural control once Thessa loses cities. But I guess it will mostly depend on Falamar - his army composition, his timing, his numbers. A lot different to stop a stack of Boarding Parties in 10 turns than chariots tomorrow. We've been fighting Sheeba for what, 23 turns now, and still have lots of units in our land. Killed a quarter of her army? This is an awfully big project we've got here.

As long as you keep the PBEM moving, I can have lots of patience here nod. Especially if you play carefully enough that the situation is less dire when it's my turn to perform wink.

But shouldn't, IMO. We don't have many mages, and changing to fire takes a mage and 3 adept turns away from the front. That's of marginal usage when we can't seed many with it. And adding another spell-type distracts from effective usage, IME.

I think you and I are thinking on different timescales. We don't even have Elementalism yet. Air will be better for clearing out the invading stacks, but eventually we want to own the seas, too, and fireballs are very handy for that. By the time 'eventually' comes around, I think we'll have a bunch of mages.

True. I was thinking in ~10-15t time. With our gold stored up, I imagine our Elementalism time would be pretty fast, and thus I was basing it mostly on our current situation.

T275 save

Opened things off with an event: the other good option was -5 to the AC for free. But I thought the extra happy and healthy (and AC reduction) worth the money.

Falamar took a peak with a pirate, but that's the last I saw of his navy, so still building some workboats in the north. Want to grab pearls up here, since we're cut off from our only hooked source down south. Plus, I cleared the orcs from our lands, so feeling ok to build some non-military in key spots.

Falamar is going after the elves with pretty much nothing but tigers, and Thessa has satyrs...

...but is too stupid to use them!

Falamar doesn't seem to have much coming in behind, so we don't seem to be in that bad of shape.

I'm thinking that a fair amount of Falamar's power is tied up in ships (which he doesn't know how to use), and stacks of priests strewn across his territory.

anyways, I've moved a stack of 2-move summoners and support troops towards elven lands to maybe take an opportunistic strike or two. If we play our cards right, we should own Hyll and Eodd in the next turnset or two.

random notes/musings:
-I upgraded a mage to enchantment II for +1 str on all our JVs. Until we get copper/iron back, JV>axe
-with sheelba mostly pulled back, i propose building a road to varn through the northern mountain pass (marked with signs) to reconnect resource trades
-I think we should promote a 2nd meta adept to stick in sopor and keep a watch out over the dragon's lair. Last I checked was a couple turns back, and all sheelba had there was rankine, and a couple random troops.
-we now have 6 mages, +1 adept ready for upgrade. i've been upgrading mages to entropy II rather than ice II. pit beasts will be better for clearing out large stacks of inferior units, which it looks like we'll be facing.
-I've got a couple adepts with 3-5xp, lets keep throwing them at good odds battles.
