Why did you attack Wetbandit after Elkad was basically eliminated? You had a big lead in land back then and surely your economy would have recovered with Wealth builds and/or infrastructure whips? I mean, I get that you`re trying to win right there and it would have been a brilliant move if you could have eliminated Wetbandit but that seems like a turning point in the game to me.

Part of the reason is that I was working a ton of overtime with no end in sight, I didn’t have time to put into proper planning and swung for the fenced with what looked best at the time.

My real mistake (I think) was not pushing the attack earlier. I opened up a huge MFG lead early with my Oracle > MC play to build IND forges. I then proceeded to squander 20 turns of the huge MFG on wealth and research builds to unlock Knights. I thought that the wealth and research combined with bulb of Machinery and true beeline (ignoring Construction, Aesthetics line, etc.) I would be able to get knights a solid margin ahead of the field. But in actuality I think I was less than 10 turns ahead of the next rival. The rapid tech pace early really surprised me, as did the tech pace later when it completely stalled out in the modern era.

I would have been better served researching Construction early and eating Elkad early with HA’s and Catapults with the huge MFG output.

Sometimes people tend to forget that players on RB are mostly working full time. It`s kind of crazy that we actually signed up for a game (and finished it!) that lasted a bit more than a year. That`s dedication in a nutshell.

Your early game seemed very strong to me and maybe going for an all-out attack on Elkad earlier would have been decisive. I was convinced that you were our primary competition for Pyramids but going for Oracle - Metal Casting worked out really well for you.
