I'm going to need a pause this time, I missed my window. The last week or so I've been working from home so I've been more flexible on my playing time, but I'm not anymore, so my window is a lot tighter.

Yes! Unsubscribe, and next time when re-subscribing, change the dropdown to be after the player before you ends turn. So you are player 2 on the list, so you would want to subscribe after player 1 (SD). This will mean instead your emails will arrive right when he ends turn.
