We probably won't have it in time, but GES just messaged me asking if we have hooked up stone so he can borrow it for Moai Statues. I have a feeling we won't have it in time anyway.

Been talking with GES. We exchanged more screens. Here's the one I sent (warning: fucking gigantic) -
Here is commodore-land, forwarded by GES:
and their quite long landbridge.
GES is considering trying to poach Comm's gold. That would be quite the coup.
Other diplo points:
- We both feel threatened by MNG's GLH. He is willing to join us in an embargo. He talked to Comm, who is not willing, saying he prefers to wait until MNG's GNP is too high.
- Upon seeing the map, he offered us a fur for free (assuming he gets 2).
- He offered to send us a confucian missionary.

Played turn... not a whole lot interesting to report. There was a bit more scouting of our rivals, but nothing pressing. The settler for Lorien is away, too.
Oh! We're #1 in food *and* hammers, and #2 in GNP. Math is in another turn, and then we should probably go straight to Calendar for happy resources, followed by Hunting->Archery so we can hold ground, probably whether or not things get dire for our economy after founding Lorien. We'll be getting another 2 workers shortly while trying to prevent happy-capped cities from growing.
Personally, I'm now in favor of trying to grab the other end of the land bridge before even founding Angmar, if we have the ability to hold it then. (... and here I said I didn't have killer instinct. I guess I have you guys encouraging me, though. )

That would be freaking hilarious. It'd be vastly more of a coup than our own land-poaching plan against Yuris.

Well, it seems someone else decided to do the thing you've been telling me would be political suicide, and it got about the result you expected. I suppose that keeps the target off our backs, at least for a time.
GES seems to be trying really, really hard to cosy up to us. I'm tempted to be suspicious, but, really, we shouldn't and probably can't afford to look a gift horse in the mouth. Besides, it's a big benefit for us. I wonder what kind of favor he's going to want from us later, though.
Actually, based on some comments GES made to me, I think he's of the opinion that our land, and to an extent his land, is terrible, and therefore the two of us should team up to punish the rest of the players for getting all the good starts. I can get behind that.

I've been agreeing with him about that too. It's pretty much true. He has rivers but got even more shafted on luxuries than we did.
And about how nice he's being: yep, he's actually just a nice guy! (At least to me... I guess I don't have full information.) And a good friend. We should be nice back.

Agreed and agreed!
I've got the turn. Played. CLose to circumnav:
On the home front I stopped a worker from finishing a cottage which would have put the chop into the GLib. It would NOT have finished the GLib this turn so I switched the worker to 1 turn of road. At end of turn we finished math so tell the worker to build a cottage next turn to finish the chop and get an extra 7x150% hammers.
I also started a barracks in the middle city. Also switched Osi to a settler. It's at the happy cap again.
GLib will finish next turn with the chop.

Now that I'm out of paranoid "wow, that's a lot of gifts" mode, yeah, he's a really friendly guy; I agree. And, if we help him out, we might even be able to beat up everyone else, assuming they don't get together and do the same thing back to us...

Played t57.
Our capital now has a great set of tiles to work. EOT we get the Great Library!
We are only two turns from proving that the world is round!
We are about to found Lorien and start its sheep pasture. Lorien's borders will soon expand and provide stone, too. In general, our northern cities are being improved at an excellent clip, with multiple cottages going up along the river and plenty of mines.
Note: I moved our galley south a bit in the hopes that yuris wouldn't see it.
Before Great Library, Calendar was due in 7 turns at break-even research (50%). So we'll need, I'd guess, three turns of gold-gathering. But we should reevaluate after two: maybe we only need 2.5 or something.
