RBP7 [SPOILERS] - The Chronicles of Nyania

Oh, and for the sake of completeness (and additional spam tongue )...

Checking the entire Civstats log confirms that TT has only researched three techs so far, and only one since T26. He started with Mining and Fishing, and we heavily suspect his first two techs were Agriculture and Bronze Working. (In fact he definitely did get Bronze Working since he adopted Slavery.) Since he only got one other tech, that MUST be Mysticism - else he couldn't be researching Meditation right now.

So we now know that TT definitely DOESN'T have anything else, including:

Animal Husbandry
The Wheel
Pottery
Hunting
Archery

More to the point, he isn't immediately researching any of these techs either, determined as he seems to be to found Buddhism for some bizarre reason. Oh well, good to know about his complete lack of preparation for the coming onslaught. jive

Sometimes I'll start a mine on a tile when I've already pre-chopped the forest. It's not really a bad idea if you have a reason to delay the chop.
Regardless of when you complete the chop, the turns spent mining don't get wasted(unless there are too many.)

Possibly. Even so, the timing is awful - he's better off to make sure the Worker finishes what it's doing before the border expansion (i.e. chop rather than mine), so that it can hook up the Copper on time.

And if it is indeed the case that he's forgotten it's Normal speed, then that's yet another basic mistake. tongue Though that kind of mistake is more forgivable than failing to hook up Copper ASAP, especially when risking/actively being choked.

All in all, this start seems to be one big screw-up on his part. Which is all the better for us, of course. smile

Sure. Except there seems to be no reason to delay the chop in this case - he's being choked and presumably needs hammers/Copper ASAP. Plus we can confirm that the forest is still there on the tile (unchopped), as we can see it on the map. Thus he doesn't have it pre-chopped to within one turn, or at least didn't make use of it when you'd think he needed it. (That's another argument really... you probably shouldn't be able to see forest chops on fogged land until you de-fog the tile again, but that's one thing the game updates regardless of whether you have any units anywhere nearby.)

Plus this still ignores the overriding issue. Why would he wait to hook up Copper (or speed up hooking it up) when under threat of a choke? Hmm, unless perhaps he has Copper in his capital's BFC as well... though that seems unlikely, given that he apparently hasn't built any Axemen to repel the pesky Warriors choking him. You'd think that'd be the first thing you'd do if you had a capital Copper, rather than attacking with (and wasting) Warriors.

Whatever way I look at it, this doesn't seem like optimal play on his part from any perspective.

I'm on a Boat! Yep, we've founded our Gold/canal city. Started a Warrior there, which will be finished in 7 turns. In 4 turns we'll finish the Gold mine and will start working the Gold. Things are looking up.

We met Mackoti/SevenSpirits this turn - for real this time, not faked like before. lol Their Scout was 2SE of our new city, so I moved our Warrior 1SE to intimidate them into moving away. It worked, apparently, which is good. The less folks wandering through our lands the better.

Next turn, The Wheel will be done and we'll begin on Mysticism. We'll also chop a Barracks to completion in the capital next turn, and start on our first Chariot the following turn.

Can we start on the first chariot without a road to the horsies? :P

Nope, but we'll finish the road on exactly the turn we need to build the Chariot. smile

T45: The Wheel finished, 2 Workers finish forest chop into Barracks
T46: 2 Workers build road on Horses, start first Chariot
