Lol, are you planning to start adventuring again with your 1 legged 1 armed dwarf or does he get to retire and run an inn somewhere?

cool Yes, I did! Retired the adventurer. Then started Fortress mode and stripped the dwarves of all their equipment except the three crutches they usually take with them. "Started" a fortress just south of Echoentrances and immediately abandoned it.
That left the three crutches in the starting wagon with the starting dwarves standing around it.
Re-activated Harmless Girlishbridge and talked to the people until they mentioned the dwarven "settlement". It then is listed in your site catalogue and shows up in the minimap.

I don't know. I currently holding my whip, my knife and the crutch in my right hand. I guess the whip and the knife are light weight enough to handle them simultaneously. It's like an oversized swiss army knife!

Inns and taverns are not implemented yet. So the plan is to pick up exploring again. I "fear" this means lots of practising, which means travelling on the actual map and not the fast travel map.

"The long march".
very early morning, Kad and myself set out to reach Empiresstring within this day.
I slowly getting better with the crutch (slow travelling all the time) and we see lots of wildlife.
Eventually Kad gets bored and wants to fight a rhinoceros! Well, Kad dies. And I am left alone, with nobody to protect me against bad fellows and wild boars.
More importantly I am not sure I will reach Empiresstring before sunset, which means bogeymen!!! And there is no nearer settlement.
No choice but to hobble for it!
I have to fight an anaconda and manage to sneak away from another one.

And literally with the last rays of sun I manage to reach Empiresstring, being very drowsy. I collapse into a deep sleep in the first house I find, but not before I managed to convince a marksdwarf to join me tomorrow!

And another day practising crutch walking, hunting crabs, sneaking up on eagles and rattlesnakes.
Uneventful. Well my dwarf companion drowned, so there is that.

I am back at Empiresstring for the night.

Crutch-sneaked my way to the hamlet of Creviceslid. Not much to report. Had to avoid a couple of rhino herds. That's it.
Hope to make it to Breechesspring tomorrow, my home hamlet.

Home at last. Hamlet of Breechesspring.
I am so skilled in sneaking now, that I made my way into a middle of an ibex herd and managed to kill all four of them!

Then I meet a herd of hippos at a river! Massive beasts, but not as aggressive as rhinos. Again I manage to sneak up on one and kill it expertly. Tons of meat (35). Slowing me down a lot. But I can deposit this at the hamlet for later use.

I decided to leave all my souvenirs and most of my equipment in a house in Breechesspring for coming adventurers to look at.
Mainly this is
the obsidian rock (not that rare it seems)
the goat hoof figurine of empire penguins
the crab left second leg (a deadly weapon!)
a giant crab left pincer
a sizeable collection of skulls (short fin mako shark, anaconda, osprey, eagle, rattlesnake, mongoose, ibex, hippo)

and my pouch with Goleanth coins worth 1115o.

I am just taking the gems with me. Why? Because I will be going to another civilisation!
The plan is to get up early, and swim my way across the Harmless Strait, then hug the coast of the big bay to avoid ambushes (since I cannot take a companion with me. They all seem to be unable to swim.) and follow the one river inwards to the first hamlet. I also hope to get away from any danger by swimming if needed.
I hope the distance is manageable before nightfall!

Here my skills:

All that practising has made me quite fast with the crutch!

Let's go!

And then I run into a pack of dingoes before I even reach the Strait!!!!

Some careful combination of speed hobbling away, hiding in ditches and sneaking my way around them got me to safety. I think there were at least 7 dingoes chasing me.
I run into another pack, but manage to get away with the same tactics.

And finally I make it to the cape, even find some albatross meat lying around from my earlier visit, which still looks edible!

And then it is into the water and out the other side. I am now walking in un-explored land. Going south hugging the coast.
...
Very uneventful so far. Some new trees that are not found in my land.
...
I drink the crab ichor to quench my thirst.

And it is clear that I have plenty of time to reach that hamlet. I am very fast now with the crutch.

And then I spot the first foreign beast:

The creature is obviously afraid of me and flees. I keep my distance nevertheless and throw stones at it.

And this appears:

Somehow this is even worse than an albatross-man.

I bring down the Giant tick with three thrown rocks. A lucky hit there with the third, injuring the brain.
I butcher it and it is massive! it yields 90 meat! 3 times the size of the hippo I killed. Its chitin weights 223G (G being the universal weight unit) What to take as a souvenir? I take one eye.

Next I hunt down the tick-man and take his severed head with me as a souvenir. I also reached that river, which should lead me to the hamlet.
So far my plan has worked nicely.

Urgh, I come across thrips-men. And take one severed head with me as well. If I ever make it back to the Slippery Confederation I will donate those to the natural history museum.

And to top it all, this:

I chase it throwing stones at it. Then get distracted seeing this on the other side of the river:

Unfortunately, this lapse brings me to close to the Grasshopper and some close combat ensues, before I can hobble away again and continue the stone throwing.

2032G weighs the beastly Grasshopper!! That is big!
I take one eye and try to find that Giant snail!
