I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out. From the Journals of Hawk That Dare Not Hunt By Day, Native American traveler and tourist. 1600AD: I have gone far among the strange Arabs, and if I have not yet grown to understand them I have at least grown to respect them. They are a backward people in many ways and yet so advanced in many others; I believe it is vital we do attempt to understand these proud, earthy people. King Camal Dor the 3rd, r1553-1599 Like many others of the Hindu faithful, I have of course before been to Holy Mecca, where the shrine of our half of the world is; I am certain it is Great Mecca that is the main reason for the Arabs' continued relevance on the world stage. It is a strangely prosperous and healthsome city, for all that it is peopled mainly by fishermen and traders. It is the sole source of iron in the Arabian Empire, as native deposits sit all along the river. No stones are quarried nor are ores mined in Arabia; timber from the lush hilly surround makes all the buildings in their capital. For this journey, however, I began in Medina, that city famed for its great Moai Stones. The citizens of Medina are projective and healthy, traders of the fine silks they gather from the wild forests in their demesne. Vast flood plains grow emmer wheat wild, and it feeds one of the largest cities among these people. Many at home idealize the people of Medina, and much of the tourism up the 'Dina river is to this lovely little city. For all throughout the vast dominions of the Arabs, not a farm is seen nor a mine mined; they really do live with nature closely. However, it comes at a great price; the Arabian population is small and scattered, and their industry is staggeringly inefficient. I worry that this is why the jewish nations disdain our faith so. Make no mistake; the jewish lords all hate the Hindu, and in the far colonies of Arabia this gets intense. I witnessed firebrand rabbis in Bulgar, turning many of the citizens there to their own ancient Babylonian faith. Many in West Araby profess to love Babylon more than Mecca, it seems. Nowhere is this more clear than in the mighty fortress town of Borsippa. Vast ranks of Arabians guard the borders there but even more guard their own citizens, who clamor nonstop for succor with their coreligionists, and co-ethnics, in the west. I saw a more dismaying thing though, as I was returning home along the coast; a victory by the Grand Rabbi of the Solomonic See... Yes! Grim news indeed. For the foolish King of Arabia, now well in his dotage, legitimized a vote to return Sippar to Babylon by voting "No" in a resolution. Tragically, the resolution still won and so now West Arabia is rent in twain, and it will not return to wholeness without war I fear.

Nothing much happened.
I teched as fast as possible, selling obsolete techs to Isabella to keep up 100% research. Rifling is 4 turns away at 100%, but that would mean selling better techs to better/rival AIs, so not sure what is best. Plan is to upgrade a lot of muskets to rifles, while drafting a couple of rounds of rifles around our empire - should give us a good enough stack. I predict other nations might join the war against us (AP palace...) so need to be prepared for anything. I think Rifles might be last tech - at least for a long while. Steel for cannon possible. Hammurabi finished nationhood, still no gunpowder for him. You have my sympathy. By the way, great report Commodore. Sorry for my own briefness. Looks like I caught her looking down demurely both times. Fitting - that was a lot of value she seduced out of me for a fistful of gold. Current forces: He stacked his offensive army in that crapdung city of his. We shall see how this war pans out... Aaand picture from end of my set. Not _quite_ sustainable research rate...
