[SPOILERS] Dhalphir PB13

correct. I subbed for BoldlyGoingNowhere and thought I was helping him by prebuilding archers all over... oops. smoke

they all became parts of crossbows.

Don't worry, it's a sure fire plan for victory. Your enemies will see legion upon legion of crossbows and become so confused as to why you have them that they'll forget all about attacking. Or something.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Don't crossbowmen require Machinery? I can't tell from reading your thread if you have it.

I know you can manually upgrade them to longbows though, and maybe they don't upgrade to crossbows if you don't have Machinery, as I don't.

I haven't ended turn for that reason, so I can always change things.

if you don't have machinery, feudalism doesn't obsolete archers. since they aren't obsolete, they won't auto upgrade, they'll just keep building. there's no way to get archers to auto upgrade to Longbows.

nice try tho.

boooooo

guess I'll log in and change back to other builds.

Nearly forgot to put my tech rate back up after changing away from archer builds. That would have been embarassing. I don't think Plako is going to attack next turn, because his GA is still going, but the turn after is a real possibility, and he has to know that I'm aware of exactly what's coming.

and that turn is the first turn I'll be able to whip longbows without dry whipping.

It's actually a shame that Plako will inevitably have to attack me to give himself a shot at winning, because my economy is actually in really good shape. At 100% science I am slightly under 500gnp, which is 100 above the average and only 150 behind the leader, which is Plako in his golden age.

If left alone, even with only 13 cities, I think I could actually stay on par with military techs all the way up to rifles, though probably not beyond that. It's doubly a shame, because that would bring my civ UU, the Minuteman, into play. Unfortunately it looks like my fate is decided before then, and even if Plako doesn't finish me off, I'm not going to be able to even limp to rifles before the end.

Never give up. Have you read the epic PB8 zulu thread. After they relocated, they started over with a tiny (relative to the leaders) empire, but carefully picked their techs to not only defend but actually bring down some of their aggressors.
