Civ5 is the best....
Did you try to load the save generated by GMR Client ((GMR) Play this one) rather than the one downloaded manually?
Can you upload the save to dropbox (or similar) so that lurkers can download and check it?

I've used (GMR) Play This One!.Civ5Save so far. Both through the one I downloaded manually, and through the client download (which overwrote the manually downloaded one).
I'll put the save somewhere so people can see if it's just me.
