RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Speaker and Sullla

Speaker Wrote:About half of our 16 catapults are double promo.
Ah ok, I though it was a bit less, you sure did get them quick at the end wink

Quote:He lacks Nationalism, so no drafting. Lack of walls/castles though is smoke
Had a long commute tonight, so time to think about plenty of stuff.
And man speaker, I wish they had given me the right to defend the ottomans empire :D
It doesn't matter (that much) if he hasn't Nationalism, he could sure get it from Nakor if he wanted to.
(in what you call cheese fashion he could also get rifling actually :D)
Should do better wink

Quote:We knew. He's been fighting stupid attrition wars with Slaze for quite a while. After their first war, Slaze *gifted* him a bunch of units duh, and then Kathlete turned around and attacked Slaze again, failing to accomplish anything.
Rest assure, I'm reading all the topic, I just didn't sense it was gonna be an epic fail from Kathlete once gifted all Slaze's army.
I think everyone expected such a back stab to be lethal huh

What do you mean by saying he can get nationalism and rifling from nakor? This is a no-tech-trading game.

That is the attitude that made so many of our succession games memorable, and (the 5v1 dogpile) probably what made so many of you follow our thread more closely than the others. Giving away your cities and gold the second you get invaded is horrible sportsmanship in my opinion and is not a great display of intestinal fortitude.

I agree on the lack of sportsmanship regarding gifting cities and gold etc... just wanted to remind you of what may be kathletes motivation behind what they are doing smile

Kathlete knew we were going to invade him on T206. He should have been gifted gold by Nakor in advance of that, to tech to Nationalism, and make this more difficult for us.

I think everybody understands what his motivation is, but if anything, that just underlines why it's such poor sportsmanship.

He should be spending his gold on unit upgrades if possible, or trying to research astronomy or some other tech that could grant a military edge. If someone like slaze were playing the Ottomans I think you guys would be in for a much rougher ride. smile

Well, the actually "fighting" for this turn took approximately 2 seconds.

No screwups here. We wanted to keep both cities.

With the discovery of Rifling, our general mace gets a free upgrade to a Rifleman. General Sunrise, badly wounded, is getting a brief furlough at a safer location, to heal his injuries, but was also upgrade to a Rifleman.

Here is the tactical situation. Kathlete has pulled his units back toward Mos Eisley. Anyone see anything interesting in this picture?

Yeah, Kathlete choose to abandon Dantooine rather than defend it. This is actually a really poor job of resisting - getting to Nationalism and drafting janissaries along with whipping walls/castles could have make things very tough for us. I guess it's good for us, but we don't really take much pleasure in walking into empty cities. smoke

Another overview shot to go along with Speaker's pictures:

We've taken 8 cities in 4 turns - exactly 2 per turn. Not going to be able to continue that pace next turn, but it was fun while it lasted! hammer

Military action reports are boring...the people demand a Team Byzantium report! wink

Darrell is dead, right? And I'm healing post-rifle upgrade. What's the status of regoarrarr?

EDIT: I said "Team India" pre-edit. It's darn confusing having the same civs in all of these games wink

"Go down swinging" is my attitude, to the best of your ability. If you get steamrolled, so be it.
I agree. nod Trying to do as much damage as you can to the superior attacker while going down would give the last turns in one's game more meaning and thus more fun, but taste obviously differs.

Quote:Any game administrator worth his salt would immediately call for a reload after Jowy's bullshit city gifting, disallowed Whosit's city and gold gifting, and Kathlete's gold gifting, and decree that they need to use their resources to defend themselves, and if they didn't want to, find a replcement player.
With this I disagree. An admin's role, at least as agreed here, is only to enforce the rules as written before the game, not to defend some vaguely defined "spirit of the community". That would be impossible to do, and would cause as much bad blood among the players as doing legal yet cheesy moves.

I see many interesting things... I see some Ottoman defenders in the open, that are vulnerable if you have any two-movers with movement left. I see an Ottoman core city without a lighthouse. What do you see?
I have to run.
