Square Leg is Garrim Gyrrrrrrr - An Angry Dwarf

Perhaps - if the Sheaim were to attack the Clowns I would consider helping them. Not sure entirely how or anything, but I would want something in return...

Things to do next turn:

Operation Stunty Home Guard

- A SW costs 120*0.67h = 80h or 3t at Totoro.

- Catapults are 90*0.67h = 60h or 2t at Totoro.

- Wood Golems are 90*0.67h = 60h or 2t at Totoro.

- Mud Golems are 100*0.67h = 67h or 2t (using some overflow) at Totoro.

Settler completes eot 60.

Build MG (remember to manage overflow so it is 2t build) eot 62

SW 65
Cat 67
WG 69
WG 71
WG 73
Cat 75

EOT 75 I have 5WG's, Barny, 2 Cats a few warriors (1 C2+Shock).

Or:

MG 62
WG 64
WG 66
WG 68
WG 70
WG 72
WG 74
WG 1t away

EOT 75 I have 8.5WG's, Barny and a few warriors (1 C2+Shock).

hmm... That is just from Totoro - I wonder if I can get anything from the other cities?

Things to find out:

- how much does a warrior to PZ (Axe) upgrade cost.

- how much will serdoa get from the GM and thus have in the bank to use.

- how does Vulnerable to Fire work? It looks like it is -50% resistence to fire so does that mean that a PZ (str3 + 1fire) would have 3+1.5=4.5 in attack against my WG's?
Reply

me: actually - you may be able to help me - do you know how vulnerability to fire works in ffh?
15:52 Darrelljs: Hmm
me: i ask since I ay come up against pz's
Darrelljs: let me check something
me: ad i am wooden! wink
15:53 Darrelljs: -50% resistance to fire damage is what the manual says
15:54 me: the -50% being added to the fire strength
Darrelljs: I don't think it works that way
me: meh
Darrelljs: I think if you get hit by PZ spalsh, or fireballs or something like that the damage goes up
so 3 damage would be 6 damage
15:55 me: well - i know this
when a golem attacks a scorpion
str6 vs 4+1 poison
Darrelljs: http://forums.civfanatics.com/archive/in...14743.html
me: the calculation ignores the poison and give 6 vs 4
Darrelljs: okay
that answers that then
15:56 me: since golems are immune to poison
Darrelljs: Selrahc has a post in this thread
that talks about that mathcup a bit
crap
oh
nevermind
I thought I was in uberfish's lurker thread
but it was for pbem5
15:57 hmm
they are talkinga bout you smile
me: wink
15:58 I need to spend some time in the WB really - that would do the trick!
Darrelljs: yes, that is a must in FFH where the mechanics are poorly documented
do a hot seat game so you can play both sides, that is what I find works best
15:59 me: ok- not tried that before so i'll give it a go.
thanks
16:00 Darrelljs: good luck smile

Chat with Darrell about fire vulnerability - a little bit nearer an answer but not quite there yet....

Almost got a spoiler too! wink

Well, 99.9% sure serdoa got BW this turn. Yay

I am just going to have to build WG's straight now and see what happens. Urgh. So much for building up in peace! lol might send serdoa a message to let him know that I know he is coming. Might put him off but I doubt it. Dumb GM pop and damn iskender for letting him cash a mission!

AFAIK- 1 point of fire strength becomes 1.5 points of strength against someone with fire vulnerability. Since Pyre Zombies only get 1 point of strength from fire, it matters a lot less than it would for say... a fire elemental or fireball.

If you really need things to be precise I'd advise checking it yourself though. I could pretty easily be wrong. bang

Thanks Selrahc, that is what I had guessed but I'm not certain. I didn't have time to run a test last night when I played and I have a pretty busy weekend too.

Turn 58

So Serdoa's score increase by 23pts last turn indicating he got a classical tech... I wonder if that may have been BW? lol

Here is the current lay of the land between us:

Assuming all his newly built warriors are in Grottiburg he will need to upgrade them next turn (58) then start to march. He has the ability to build roads so I imagine he will do so. He could be visible in only 3 or 4 turns... yikes

Confirmation his power is continuing to rise...

So things to do:

Road the yellow blobs and get ready! It is equidistant if he chooses to go for Totoro or Valley of the Wind so who knows at this point. If I can catch him in the middle of no-where and kill off some PZ's then I might - otherwise I could be choked... meh we'll have to see.

Needless to say that Totoro can forget that settler and start with some WG's pronto!

Oh and lastly - I am going to mail Serdoa and see what the crack is! wink

Draft to Serdoa:

Nervous Dwarf Wrote:Hey Serdoa,

Just thought I'd pipe up and say congratulations on getting to BW. That combined with your impressive power increase and GM cash can only mean one thing... Either Bob or I are about to get face load of smelly burning undead corpse! frown

I suppose that I can't really do anything about it if you have chosen me as your target apart from get ready and remind you of where all the good land is - in Bob's direction! wink

Seriously - if there is anything you would like to discuss to avoid a potential conflict, please dial me up.

Cheers,
SL

Draft to Bob:

Friendly but quaking in his booties Dwarf Wrote:Hello Bob,

So Serdoa researched BW last turn and with the cash he got from the GM I expect him to be upgrading all those pre-built warriors he has into burning stinky vile repulsive fiery zombies... great.

He is bound to attack me but you should be aware since he may come for you. Probably best if we keep each other up to date on all matters concerning the Sheaim over the next few turns.

Cheers,
SL

What do we think?

This might get rough especially, if he has copper. You could consider researching Bronze working and settling on top of Copper. You also should consider building warriors instead of WGs. I suspect you could build enough of them to take the heat.

Valley doesn't seem to have any culture in it and scultor's studio takes a while to finish, if you think you can get its borders pop before he hits you could continue otherwise building warriors or Mud Golem might be better. I would build some roads towards his most probable approach routes so that you could at least hit him without getting much collatral damage. The probalem is that they shouldn't give more movement to Serdoa. Also occupying some forest and hill tiles with 1-2 warriors and preparing to take advantage on units in the flat land could work.

You could chop couple of forest form his most probable approach route to generate additional killing fields and again trying to minimize the collateral damage from explosions.

Maybe also send immediately a warrior or scout to monitor what is coming towards you.

Scouts not a bad idea, plus chopping at least the forest east of toroto seems a good plan

Hey plako,

If he doesn't have bronze then I think we will be ok - maybe it will be a tough ride, but we should be ok. If he does have bronze then it is going to be a lot tighter.

I cannot get bronze weapons until I discover Bronze Working so settling on the copper just gives me another city to defend. Had BW already been in then it would have made perfect sense.

I should definitely get some chops in asap to speed things up although the chops are nerfed in ffh... 8h if I recall. cry

EDIT - is there anything else that you think I should add to the messages above?

Basically you're telling him that you know he is up to something. This is good idea unless you want him to build the army before letting him know. Upgrading isn't cheap for him. If you know you could easily handle the army or alternatively direct it elsewhere, it might be good idea to wait before sending him the message.

One alternative is to hint co-operation against Bob. I don't know, if geography, your deals or just a better relationship to Bob makes real deals unfeasible, but just hinting to that direction could reveal more info about his intentions.
