Mooooooo.... wait, wrong animal. Neeeigghhh

Played T96.

I moved the warrior crowd around Newmarket south towards Ultigar. We're a bit behind schedule in exping Mardoc & Illios (or a bit ahead in reaching Warfare). Ideally we should hit lvl 6 with one of them just after discovering Warfare. I sent one worker to make a road east so Mardoc&Illios&co can hunt for xp more actively. There should be the C3 lion, a bear in the area, and there's also Ultigar, a goblin fort and another barb city nearby.

Aintree will hit its happy cap in 3 turn. It's a perfect time to start working on our first GP. I was thinking of assigning both sage and merchant and maybe using the GP for a golden age (we could adopt Honor during the GA if we go for it after Warfare/Mil Strat)

I began preparations for founding city #8. Iskender moved out of Goodwood to protect the settler against the wolf. He'll be replaced by Bagel. Both workers from Goodwood will help develop #8 after they're done building two farms and a pasture. I suggest we also send one worker from Cheltenham to help #8.

The scout is feeling Illian borders. He should hit a dead end soon enough.

Serdoa is at 8 cities. I've got a feeling that he had been abusing the whip (he switched to Arete this or last turn, bloody SPI+FIN Varn. Still, RAI>SPI+FIN right?). His capital is still at size 9 and we've almost caught up in pop with the Illians (23 vs 26% of global pop).

Short-term plans:

Sanitation will kick in in 2 turns. Then a couple of turns of 0% research and I guess we'll make a stab at the Warfare, Philo, Mil Strat line. If Mardoc&Illios exp slowly we could stop at a few beakers short of researching Warfare and Philo (for C&D and deception purposes and then grab all three techs in one big leap.

After that how about going for Honor? Ie. Writing -> HBR -> Trade -> WoW -> Honor. Alternatively we could go for RoK like our FIN friends, but that's just so cliché. rolleye

Turn 97

So this turn we started on our 1st GP in Aintree:

Due in 12t. We will have either a Sage or a Merchant. GA sounds like to best choice but we should probably work on getting a merchant 2nd for a trade mission to upgrade some units.

Mardoc had a peek into Ultigar:

Only 1 archer and a warrior currently.

We do a dance with the barbs in the north and retreat back. Next turn we will do combat and get Ilios another promo! We will also connect the corn next turn for a full 30% extra commerce on the Brew House! jive

Sanitation finshed at the end of the turn and our food went from 116 -> 141 yikes Thats a pretty big increase!

I agree totally with your tech choices as I already posted them a few posts back! smile

Ascot should finish the Granary now as it will be losing hammers to decay soon. we should maybe build some more cottages up there.

God damn it, why am I not on the front line? banghead I mean, why not use The Bagel Of Mass Destruction to roll over the barbs?

Because they are Hippus and not (discworld-) Dwarfs wink.

I do like those orc squads coming in fours to deliver us experience points (kind of reminds of Dune II AI that kept sending quads/tanks etc. to be obliterated).

Speaking of which:

Radnor FTW, haha!

The granary in Ascot should be OK for a time - the decay for buildings is 33 turns on quick (i think). I'd go for Public Baths after the settler.

Aintree could also start building PB - when it grows into unhappiness it can switch back to worker and complete him (getting +2 food from the unhappy citizen while building a worker) and then put the overflow to the PB, microing the specialists along the way to get optimal growth vs overflow into PB.

The same can be done in Epsom with its settler and then PB and a worker. I'll try to arrange that.

Clan's soldier count passed 100k. Soldier of Kilmorph spam (8k points each)? Or maybe Krill's preparing to invade the Grigori?

Ilios up to 19xp thumbsup We can healpromote 3 of the crowd next turn, heal up in the city and move onto Ultigar (archer and 2 warriors in the city atm).

Aintree grew to 9. On T100 it should switch back to a worker (2t) w/o working specialists (to maximize overflow) and when the worker is ready resume PB working one or both specialists.

Chepstow also grew to 9. It needs a tile switch (plains/forest -> farm, p/f was necessary to complete the market in time). It's on a settler now, maybe to go for a rice/banana site south?

The scout spotted Illian core:

I doubt he can get through to the Clan, proably should turn north. Do we wan't OB with the Illians?

EOT demographics. Looks good jive

Proposed message to the Illians:

Quote:Dear Varn of the mighty Illian empire!

I hope all is well in the chilly depths of the winter king. I am writing to propose two separate trade deals to you. Let’s see if we can work something out to help us keep up with the REXing Clan!

First deal on the table.

We would like to offer you OB so that you can get foreign trade routes in all of your cities. In exchange we would like a happy resource from you. We realise they you have no duplicates however perhaps we can work that out by the following deal:

We offer - OB and Ale

You offer - Ivory

You should get the benefit of foreign trade routes (we won't as we don't have the tech) and we get a happy face in all our cities.

The second deal is this:

We offer - Gems

You offer - 25gpt plus a thane of kilmorph.

Gems will give you 2 smile with a cheap temple of kilmorph and so your economy should be able to grow by much more than 25gpt with 2 extra citizens in your cities. The thane is negotiable I guess and not key for the trade to take place but we are trying to keep up with you guys and this will certainly help our cause.

The main purpose of these trades is to allow both the Illian and Hippus nations to grow economically so that we can rival the REXing, warren-loving orcs and keep as close to them as possible enabling a joint attack on them in the future. A strong Illian empire is as much in our interests as a strong Hippus are in yours and so we'd like to start enriching one-another now rather than just have some vague commitment to fight against the Clan in the future without actually committing anything to that.

All the best,

Square Leg the Horselord and Iskender the Nagmaster.

We could also ask how many cities Krill has.

EDIT - need to add expiring dates...
