My beautiful 1 turn Liberalism. Looks like my costs jacked up a bit at end of turn and I was pushed down to 60% science instead of 70. I've seen people report that bug before but it is really annoying, I'll lose a turn of golden age production into the Taj, I have to check but I think that costs 2t off my ETA.

Is that what happened, or did you lose a trade route or something?
Annoying either way.
I have to run.
I'm in Mercantilism, so it can't be trade routes and I didn't lose any tiles due to culture, so I don't really see what else could have happened. I'm not sure what expense could have changed pre-turn roll either though.
I just checked in SP and at EOT inflation went from 18 to 20, the income went down from 0 to -2, but the treasury stayed level at 1000 gold. So it can't have been inflation.
Did someone take a tile off you culturally that had a unit on and increase your supply costs? Would that happen before turn end? (FakeEdit: Just checked - no it wouldn't unless an artist bomb was involved) Did someone end a GPT deal with you after you ended turn?

I just (in single player) got ten cities to grow at once, and while the expenses and income changed for the next turn they didn't affect my cash stock on that turn. I *think* that's what affects the slider. Then I did the same thing for building units with the same result. So I'm still stumped.

I am pretty sure inflation went from 16% to 17% that turn, so that would be my best guess too. It seems unlikely based on Harry's tests though.
One thing that did occur to me was dtay's worker gifting. Of course that didn't happen that turn but it would have been hilarious if Gaspar could have somehow figured out how tight I left things and gifted me some units to push the Taj back. I guess I'll try stick to Mack's 5g rule from now on.
Well, while Gaspar continues to save gold on Gunpowder I get a bit more confident:
Had to pave over a village this turn . I'm not sure why they detoured to Engineering, those 1500b could get them a lot closer to Taj and it's not like they're at war with anyone. They have enforced peace with dtay, stealing Taj is a better way of hurting me, I guess I should be on the look out for a potential Oxy-Gaspar war. I think I'm the only one without engineering btw, Oxy picking it up makes more sense, since his defense is the threat of whipping all of his cities, needs to be able to mobilise quickly. Dtay sent me this: Not too sure if he wants me to attack or sell him knights. Attacking doesn't seem a great idea right now when I can get to a tech advantage relatively quickly and there's no quick way to get Knights down there. I can hurt Thoth a bit but I really don't see how I make any long term gains, even razing and replacing Darkness, he has space to replant close by and his culture is so high he'll take control of the first ring tiles. If I attack, I want it to be a big one. I'm overflowing with Great People right now: Bulb PP next turn to get my GA bonus back on my villages . I realised my GMs could double bulb Constitution this turn and I was sort of tempted by Rep/Merc but decided to stick with FM and the trade missions. Nationhood easily wins if I just convert the extra hammers to gold via build wealth. I whipped in 5 Universities and a Bank in the shrine city this turn too. |
