Not sure the reasoning behind this positioning ...
but I'll take it.
There's not much left on the peninsula, so hopefully I can mop up quickly.

A belated update on my last turn. It went pretty well, with 4 city captures, though Commodore still has to play. The peninsula is mine:
Chier fell last turn and I had G2s and Cavs threatening Cape Pine, which fell this turn. Comm didn't respect the 2 Galleons I had in the water; Haslet had a single crossbow, while Bardin had an axe and what I presume was a new Carrack. I had two muskets and an impi to deal with the axe and was lucky to win the first fight. Meanwhile there were amphib Cavs on the other boat who easily tidied up the CB ahead of schedule.
Now I'm leaving a couple of G2 Rifles fortified in these cities and sending the rest up north. There's a bit of a showdown this turn already:
I'm not really sure what will happen if Comm engages. I promoted most of the rifles to G2 to defend, left a lot of other units with promos pending to promo heal. I think the worst case scenario is an even hammer trade for me, if he spends his collateral to get odds he only has ~16 musket/mace hitters IIRC. That should favour me, since it's much easier for me to reload. I reckon collateralled units will only fall to about 70% strength. Probably he just wants to keep me advancing slowly and will retreat. I think I should have been more aggressive up here and advanced with the groups of G2 rifles, not necessarily waited for the siege.
The 4th city capture was in the other theatre:
I was expecting Comm to retreat next turn when my siege was in range and my cavs already had good odds(only 2 top muskets were a bit difficult) so I went in. I got a bit lucky at first, winning all my 60-90% matchups, leaving 2 cavs for the last sword defender. Maybe I should have just stopped there, originally I just wanted to kill his units, not take the city. He has 2 Knights in the southern city that could recapture. But I thought 2 Cav defenders should be enough, unfortunately I lost the first ~95% against the sword, so now I just have an injured Cav and an explorer in there and it's a bit at risk.
You can see the siege around Neander is nearing the end btw, and I'll need to gather my hitters there soon too.

You been playing Civ 5? That's quite a carpet you've spread out in the name of a siege. Avoiding collateral attacks or denying tile use there?

lol
edit: i'm guessing most of his motivation is to avoid collateral...

It turns out collateral discourages Stacks of Doom, who knew?

Vacation over -> Mack starts killing people.
I wonder when/if he'll turn his eyes to the mainland and what the eventual split will be with OH. Things could get very messy there. At least Ot4E is Protective, so his muskets will have some chances against upgraded Berserkers.
On another note, did RtR mod out the sabotage production mission? I want to check out Mack's Ironworks locations but I can't see the mission on the EP screen. I was sure I used it in PB18...

Yeah, this is the first version that had all the espionage missions completely removed, IIRC. Krill removed them after all the crazy shit that plako did in PB22.

Seems to be some sort of halfway point of espionage removal:
No help in tracking Mack's SoL attempt though:
He discovered democracy this turn, which has to be for the SoL. He's not in Bureau, so without the the ironworks I think his capital is the best bet. Assuming he overflowed the frigate into it, I'm estimating his build date at T220. I'll have to keep an eye on his other cities to see if an Ironworks pops up but none of them seem too optimised for hammers(except his HE).
Honestly I'm not that worried about him building the SoL. Democracy is about 6k raw beakers and it's taking him about 20t to build the thing. Suppose he has 30 cities on the continent, each getting an extra 9bpt for a total of 270bpt from the SoL. Call it 300bpt and that's a further 20t before his beaker count catches up. And there's a hammer cost too. On the other hand, I think the denial value vs me is pretty huge, because I'll be looking at ~50 cities on my continent.
I might possibly be able to sneak the wonder out from under him. My proposed city will be going Ironworks->Levee-> SoL, so I have some time before I commit any beakers to Democracy. This would give a much faster 8t SoL. I'll need to be pretty sure I can win the race though, otherwise that's a lot of beakers to throw away on my behalf. The upswing if I got it would be huge though, potentially game winning.
Meanwhile, I took another city this turn and set up another carpet of doom:

Here's my Ironworks city:
I decided to cap it at size 12 for the moment because I think WW is going to become problematic. Just to the south, the fighting finally started at Neander, and there were a lot of casualties:
I managed to kill most his hitters. I lost ~6 Cav/Rifle units to do so, in addition to 4 suicide catapults. I had high odds but there were a lot of battles so that's probably expected.
On the other front Commodore retreated again, and now is holed up in Kojack.
It's getting harder to predict how a confrontation will go here, now that I don't have any hills to cover my main force. I'll have to think about the best way to approach the capital, maybe I just go around it and take the rest of the countryside first while waiting for reinforcements(not that a lot are being built right now).
Commodore appears to be playing pretty short turns, I guess he's just whipping, making obvious moves and not putting much thought into it. Realistically he needed an ally to jump in at the start of the war anyway.
Mack started biting off some mainland:

Commodore appears to have overbuilt siege. He has very few hitters.
