More t59:
In diplo news, t58 Mackoti had teched Currency, so I asked him for some compensation for the OB we've been giving him. Just $12, I think that's a bit generous but you know you shouldn't beg for too much.
t59: He accepted! Woohoo. OK, I offered him $1 back as a reward.
Oh also in diplo olds, Bonsag accepted our peace offer a couple turns ago, t57 I think since Novice didn't report it.
I decided to turn tech back on to get Writing and Math in the next few turns, since we have just started on a few build/chops with workers. After math comes in we'll sit at 0% until we've got at least one library if not more. I still want to get Calendar for the Mausoleum, though Currency is also important as well as Aesthetics-Poly-Lit for the Great Library and National Epic, assuming we can secure marble.
This is the preferred marble site, as we already have a settler+galley+WB on their way.
But Mackoti might grab it first. A galley of his moved through his gold island city two turns ago so may be only three columns east of the stone island right now. Which means he can land a settler there a turn before we can. We also know there's a vulture on the galley. Since we have a chariot nearby, we're not powerless. But nevertheless we'd probably have to give up on this marble if he settles it first, since early wars are lame.
OK, on to domestic matters, where we are coming along nicely. E.g. 3 cities in the top 5, due to our new vertical capabilities with granaries and pyramids.
Let's take a look at those cities. Attach Mimes finished its forge and grew, hence the governor-assigned engineer. But the governor is right in this case. Next turn we'll pass the grass farm over to Dominate It and over the next two turns produce exactly 62h and 3f to complete that settler. We were originally planning to build it for a turn and whip it, but it turns out our capital has pretty high production with that forge and IMP. Seems good to me! After that we'll build a Library. Should finish 5t from now and after that we can hire some scientists.
Blameless Yin is almost done recovering from the whole engineer and colossus thing where we didn't bother giving it important stuff like a lighthouse or granary. Because it had great production and low food surplus, we decided to give it the lighthouse first and then finish the granary a turn before it grows, then grow on max food (+9), filling up the granary almost completely (it could give us 10f). We can then grow again the turn after, even while rehiring the engineer! Awesome. This is going to be a great city. And it will give us another great person in just 5 turns, right before Attach Mimes' stupid prophet would pop and also right as Attach Mimes finishes its Library.
Cruel Guitar was the first city that we granted the luxury of growing onto all its water tiles and because of this it's our biggest commerce contributor right now, even over the capital with Palace! Right now its job is to produce a galley for the vertical sea, so we can settle our gold. It's all timed out, so right now I'm letting it grow on a Trireme rather than whip away those nice Colossus coasts. You know what's scary when you just have galleys? 3-move triremes. This one will be able to harass Gasparhelium and protect our future island holdings in his direction.
Dominate It is still the city we point and laugh at, as every time it grows to four we just murder half the population again. But once it becomes expedient to give it some culture (via a missionary or library) and we have other cities to carry the expansion torch, we'll give it a lighthouse and let it grow onto all that coast.
Epic Smoots finishes its lighthouse next turn (farm -> mine) and boy does it look beautiful. After that we knock out a workboat for the pending gold city while growing onto all those delightful tiles.
Failed Sum just grew to 2 and will get its sheep pastured next turn. t60 it grows to size 3 and reaches 20h in the granary, then we'll whip it. And then it's going to grow every turn for a while I think, with a lighthouse whip to mix things up.
Finally, Great Inferior. It got a chop and enough hammers this turn that it can whip the granary next turn. And then we just need some culture and a lighthouse and it's off to the races. It will be one of our 5 largest cities for sure, at least in the near term.
