Ok I accepted GJ's peace offer, moved Ronaldo to the hill :
There's land to the west, good. Looking at the site it could definitely be our moai site, using pig and crab for early growth into coast tiles, then leaving one of them to the future silver city.
That's Messi's situation now, I think healing is a good choice, that way we can still spy on GJ's settler (which should arrive shortly) and then start north only fearing bears.
I didn't end turn yet in case you want to change anything.
PS : the capital is currently working a 2/1/0 and the lake 2/0/2 tile, I think that's the plan right ? Also Hindu hasn't been picked up yet.

I would assume GJ to have a settler out later than us actually. Remember we are slaving it and even though we moved we had a 2 hammer base tile so we have had the worker a turn longer. Plus he only grew to size 4 this turn, so he definitely has not already started one. I would expect that he would switch to a settler now, and can put 18fhpt plus the chop into it... Bah we couldn't have competed with that even if we had settled in place, we would have needed so many work boats! I think his will come out in 6 turns, or 5 if he has managed to engineer 10 overflow (unlikely). But waiting for a heal should allow us to see where it goes, even if we do keep the way clear of animals for him.
I am really happy that we can see land to the west, that is a little bit of relief. The question is do we still try and rush for that other spot? I would say yes otherwise we will have a really hard time defending against any later GJ aggression. Completely agree on a good moai site, although we will have some issue building it there due to the lack of forests and only 6 natural hammers there. But once it is set up, it would only need the crab (might as well keep a moaiable tile) and would be great working the coast and copper.
That is the plan for the capital. I could look into simming whether it is worth trading 2 hammers for 2 commerce? IE working a coast tile rather than a forest. But my gut feeling is that that is not the right move now. We should also put a turn of half research in before we settle, so we can max research when we settle there.
Just logged in and ended the turn, I really don't think it is worth switching that many hammers as it delays the next worker. However I did move the new warrior out to the SE so he can protect the worker roading next turn.

Ok great !
About the next city, I think it should be sealing our border with GJ, that way we can be a PITA for his copper, and then the next one would be the copper spot to build a spear and axe for the east. We'll have to time things right though, maybe even delaying east city so we're sure we'll get west city soon enough to build metal weapon defenses. I'm not even sure how much time we'd have to build archers before settling it.

I'm happy to work towards that, I just wanted to throw out the option of trying an island economy. Have to think about these things, although I be that there is someone really close by there.
I see the turn rolled, we should continue roading east and let the games begin! England game tonight so won't be able to play it until late. I'm expecting a win with a good score line here

I'll play the turn. If the score is less than 4-0 I'll be disappointed.
Ok turn played, nothing happened. Just so you know, from his power graphs GJ got BW 2 turns ago.

Hmmm I just notived via civstat that GJ gained points during his turn last turn, just before finishing turn. It could be a civstats mistake with a normal tech (BW ?) that he got but somehow I don't think so. Did he get another hut so far in the game ? He didn't settle his second city (I checked in the diplo screen, although maybe the new cities aren't shown there for now ?) and I can't think of anything else.
Edit : Spain just lost in Slovakia
Switzerland lost in Slovenia. The little countries are rebelling ! Except for San Marino of course, they're just too small for anything.

5 - 0 good enough with a disallowed goal that was easily onside? :P In all seriousness though, against a team of amateurs that was really poor play. One decent goal... Not looking great, but they will scrape through. The more interesting one will be the Wales game tomorrow. Lots of upsets all over, hope the little countries continue on!
I guessed they had BW as they were chopping last turn - didn't click though. The points increase was a 2 point increase so for pop, we know their cap went 3-4. You instantly see on the diplo screen a possible city trade. I think it was just civstats messing up slightly, some score increases happen pre turn end some post turn end on the log, so I don't make too much of it.
EDIT - I just logged in to have a look - you need to be careful with the warrior moves. The unnamed warrior should have stayed on top of the worker. There was a small but real chance there could have been a wolf on the x marked square just out of vision. They could have easily eaten our poor worker! Thankfully that isn't the case and on that hill we will have full vision but do think where animals may be hiding.
Remember we are delaying the settler whip now so it will not happen next turn, but the turn after. Also where do you think Webb should go to heal? I think onto the square we want to settle upon...

Oh yeah sorry about the warrior move, I realised afterwards that it was slightly risky, but it was too late. I won't be able to play today, or only late-ish.

No worries, no actual harm done. As long as you see the potential risk then you will remember for the future! (You definitely would have remembered if the worker had been eaten)
Turn rolled, nothing much happened. Moved ronaldo closer and kept all other units where they were to heal/protect. Hindu still open.

What did you think of Wales ? Bosnia is definitely a solid team so overall 0-0 isn't a bad result. And you're technically first of your group due to Israel-Belgium being delayed.
Only other funny event : Chiellini scoring 3 times, for a 2-1 Italian victory.
