Crisis averted. The game runs well on my laptop.

In case anyone needs to do the same operation (Civ from desktop to laptop with no cd drive):
1. Copy the Firaxis Games (or just Civ4 I suppose, if you have more of their games) folder from Program Files to a USB stick.
2. Switch the USB stick to your laptop and copy the files to Program Files.
3. Download DirectX 9.0c separately even if you have a later DirectX. It'll run way better.

Hey guys, I may need a pause this turn. I just got into my hotel, and it's late and I'm way tired. I probably won't be able to take it until about 18 hours from now, so if whoever is last to play besides me can pause that would be awesome. I should be able to play about the same time every day after that.

Had to system restore because of an infinite loop on boot up. It might take a while before I can play

Jowy you seem to be contagious as my computer is having some serious trouble right now. I won't be able to play my turn for some time so unless Mardoc can play the turn we'll probably have to pause for you tomorrow. Sorry everyone
