[SPOILERS] Fire and Blood: Nyles Standish and Zalson watch the world burn

Pindicator:
Has 9 cities; I thought he had 17 but then I realized I was confusing him with StarDoor. he can’t have 2 capitals.

Us: 8 cities cry

However, a 3x whip at Dragonstone in 2 turns will give us 9…

And we can get a 2 pop whip in King’s Landing and a 3 pop whip from Valyria. Alternatively, valyria could be a worker (that’s probably for the best).

Valyria
Might as well stay on a barracks for another turn until it gets to size 6. Then a settler? or worker? (settler i think).

I think it should go up here. Somewhere.

Volantis
A lighthouse probably wasn’t the best approach here but — what else can we build? I switched to a worker because we had 1 in the queue with 2T left.

There’s also a galley with some hammers in addition to the lighthouse.

There’s a large garrison here — should we send them down to pay back OT4E for his impending aggression?

Tyrosh
Should finish the barracks and then start a worker. That’s one major production powerhouse, and it grows slowly, so we should avoid whipping it. We should farm the tiles I’ve listed, i think.

I see we settle the GG. Yeah, we should finish barracks and just build units while it grows up onto the hills.

Myr
Lighthouse is a good choice i think.

Pentos
Keeps on granary-ing.

King's Landing
Starts settler, due in 7. The workers can chop into it, I think, while on their way to the northern cows.

I think we use this to settle a city in the virgin territory up north.

Dragonstone
After some waffling, I didn’t start a settler: OT4E’s right there. No he is not going to get into a city that has 2 axes and 1 archer (with 1 more on the way).

Which spot do we pick for this settler?

Rosby
Starts a library. Was going to do a worker but I figured we should get Dragonstone out of unhappiness earlier by putting more hammers into the settler.

T91
Start a worker in Tyrosh.

Switch off the barracks to Valyria and start a worker, due in 4.

OT4E has set up on our border. Maybe we move two axes — or a chariot? — SW-SW and then slip in behind to threaten OT4E’s new city? That’s really the only way I think we can displace him; in 6 turns he’s going to be booted back to his city. If only we had jags!

Moved 1 axe north to eventually start hold the north.

Rosby is going to grow into unhappiness next turn but I think we can get the chariot down there quickly enough.

All our cities:

Do we want to challenge OT4E? I mean, there’s not much we can do against this:

I think we should try to prioritize X over Z in the north. We can get the ivory for an extra happy.

We get our settler out of Dragonstone? Any displacement of OT4E?

I just realized what we should have done with the great general: super 4 move galley. That would get OT4E off our back.

How's that situation going?

Settlers out of Dragonstone and King's Landing are due this turn. Screenshot pre-whip:

OT4E hasn't made any aggressive moves. I guess the Spear/Axe combo was just so the scouting pair wouldn't be weak to any particular unit. Sweet Times is empty but with enough in the neighborhood that it's not vulnerable.

OT4E's power might all be on the other side of his empire ready to attack ipecac or attack/defend against Stardoor, who we unfortunately have not met and have no graphs on despite having a map of their entire empire.

The King's Landing settler I think I'll settle in range to share the cows with King's Landing, the one from Dragonstone will either go to the filler fish spot or to the crabs/whales/corn site to the west.

Can we push up to get site z in the north? We need more happy pretty desperately...

Nyles, can you post a city overview (F1) SS each turn? That'll help me comment on what we're doing in the event I can't get into report. That'll make it easier to comment on builds and whatnot, which should help us both by justifying our choices.

Dragonstone settler shoould go to crabs/whales/corn. Filller can filler later. let's try to grab new resources if we can.

We're pursuing MC at this point for forges, I take it? I thought we were pursuing monarchy for +1 happy from wines and to use our military for happy (with the added benefit of mediation/priesthood boosting code of laws reesarch)? Obviously, it's your game, but I am supposed to be the peanut gallery here.

What's our economy look like at 0% science right now? Any thoughts?

If I can get in tonight before the roll, I'll check and report. Would you like me to play turns if they're played when I can get in? Report and then play? Please let me know what you'd prefer.

In the game right now.

Here's the city overview.

Settler coming out of Volantis because it's got the highest production. Settler is bound for either the Ivory site up north. Sugar's a pretty meh resource (even with a Plantation it gets the same amount of food and only one more commerce than a farm) so we could found on that sugar for the city tile bonus, the main drawback being that there are no other food bonus resources until either a border pop or a lighthouse (for 3 food lakes). Archer from Tyrosh is to protect the new city.

I think we've got enough workers for right now.

I founded Winterfell and have it working freshly pastured cows.

I sent the Dragonstone settler to the filler spot simply because that spot is less than half of the distance to the capital than the crabs city would be. City maintenance is one of the main reasons that our economy is shit. That city also doesn't actually get us any new resources, just duplicates of ones we already have access to. The far away city is a "better" city in most ways, but it costs more money which is pretty tight right about now.

MC I think was actually a mistake. I originally wanted it for the Colossus, then OT4E killed that dream before we had even saved up the money to research MC. I think I switched to something else at some point, but one of us switched it back. Monarchy is actually a better plan, so this turn I switched to Meditation to set us down that path. Research doesn't decay, but it still would have been better to put that towards something else.

Economy is absolute garbage at any% science; this screen is at 0%. Literally the worst economy of any player with more than one city. People have empires packed with size 8 or 10 cities and we don't have the happiness to support that size or the economy to research the tech in a timely fashion.

Not much we can do but keep unit production to a minimum, emphasize commerce and go for something that nets happiness (Monarch for Hereditary Rule and Wines, Calendar for silks and sugar) or commerce (Currency).

With regards to turn playing, you can play as soon as/if you can get in, with some exceptions: war turns, city foundings (unless I have explicitly named a spot for the city to go or explicitly approved a suggested city site in the thread), or if otherwise noted.

New city needs a name. The workers that pastured the cows just plopped down another cottage and are in range to chop a forest in Tenochtitlan to complete the monument faster so it pops borders and can work the fish.

King's Landing's work boat is for Winterfell. Volantis should be whipped as soon as it's got enough into the worker to whip 2 pop.

GNP is less embarrassing with 100% science but still nothing to write home about.

So here are some bright spots: we're now 4th in Land area -- and we're not creative. I think we're still about 10T away from getting dcodea's land added to our score. We've also got 10 cities with 11 on the way.

Second, we're going to have a lot of infrastructure: so when we grow to sizes higher than 6, we should be able to capitalize on that.

Third: we're not too far off the average in GNP, MFG, and Food. Yes, this is looking on the bright side. But I'm trying to cheerlead here!

So, I was thinking about our situation and what do we get faster? Monarchy or Currency? Currency will rescue our financial situation but it is more expensive. So i think Monarchy is probably more valuable since we can get it now and it uses our large army?

I'm going to jump in and play with it. Stand by.

Also, our next cities should be: Lys, Lorath and Qohor.
