Oh, and the writeup for Playoff Game Two is also finished. I was able to knock this one out pretty quickly - enjoy!

Quote:By the time <spoiler> just before Turn 200, Mansa Musa had already made his way to Rifling tech Considering AI's research priorities, Mansa getting Rifles by T200 is a miracle by itself. How many times did we see AIs go for Communism and Steel and seemingly Anything But Rifling. Pretty sure I saw an AI research all the way to Assembly Line and unable to build Infantries because no Rifling
I wouldn't call it a miracle, Mansa's preference for economic techs that are around the middle of the tree set him up pretty well for never being more than 2 techs (Banking + Printing Press -> Replaceable Parts -> Rifling) away from Rifling and 1 tech (Corporations -> Assembly Line) away from Assembly Line. Given that Mansa is usually the beaker leader starting in the late Ren he's basically going to get all the military techs pretty quickly.
When Mansa loses, its going to be before he hits his stride.

Every AI ends up 2 techs away from Rifling - they research Gunpowder and Printing Press, then stubbornly ignore Replaceable Parts and Rifling, instead beelining Communism and Physics. Which a human player may do too - just not when in the process of losing a war

Which a human player may do too - just not when in the process of losing a war Don't forget to cram divine right in there somewhere. The AIs are OBSESSED with that tech. I sometimes play with AI allies and it gets infuriating having to tell them to not research it every single time we finish a tech.
Rifling and Replaceable Parts have a large Military flavor and small or non-existent flavors for everything else, that’s why the AI’s who do not have flavor Military often ignore it for a time.
Mansa, however, is such a fast researcher that it doesn’t matter that much, even though neither of his research flavors are Rifling flavors. I wonder why he is so fast even with tech trading turned off. Spiritual ends up benefiting him quite a lot, it seems.
The ai spends probably 30 turns or more a game in anarchy. They usually revolt every time they enter and leave war, plus when they get new techs, and then you've got religion changes as well. That's going to add up to like a 4 tech advantage for Mansa just for being spiritual. Also he'll sign open borders even at furious, so he gets tons of foreign trade routes. Finally he builds infrastructure out the yin yang so his cities are much more efficient than the ais thatspend all their time building units.
Mansa just randomly hits the exact right combo of everything.
He also gets a 10% gold bonus everywhere from his UB, and his UU should get very favorable matchups in every barb combat (when accounting for the deity bonuses).

I think final score (points) decide that. You can check season 2 conclusion(spoilers). http://www.sullla.com/civ4survivor2conclusions.html By the way Sulla, someone from civfanatics forum asked you a question https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/h...ap.622882/ I really don't know, whenever I edit maps I end up with water stain. Something like that which looks ugly, I think it is a graphic error. I wish I knew how to edit fairly and good. But for donut final maps do you generate map from Donut option or Team Battleground(Round)? And for Pangaea maps do you random them from Pangea or Random Script(Pangea)? I'm not sure what's the big difference there. Perhaps Balanced produce some good maps too. " /> The water stain-.- |
