[Spoilers] Cometh the Messiah - Varn Gosam and the Malakim

T87:

Serdoa's stack moves along my border. I'm starting to think he just wants to mess with me.

The Kilmorph Soldiers will stay in position between Ra and Helios.

I've started a Smokehouse in Helios, because at it's current size, growth will be slow after the switch to Aristocracy.

I still haven't decided when to switch, all that glorious food is making me want to postpone the Civics change perpetually!

But most cities have grown back into all available tiles, so I should probably bite the bullet and make the switch sooner rather than later. I'll do a test switch next turn to see how much extra commerce I'll be making (and how much upkeep costs drop).

Also known as the before and after turn!

But first, an event!

[Image: T88Event.JPG]

Yeah, sucks, but at least no Mulcris Clan Goblins... I wonder if the event only works for evil Civs.

On to the turn report!

Before:

[Image: T88Before.JPG]

Notice the Elf Hunter in the shot. I've granted access to Uberfish, so he can catch a Combat 3 Griffon. With the Griffon he can hop over to an island containing a chest.

Civic change:

After:

Just too good to wait much longer. Most cities have regrown to their pre-River of Blood levels.

Now watch everyone go ballistic...

En-Kai:

Producing more than one third of Malakim research. Notice the Mind mana bonus finally kicking in.

En-Kai popped its border last turn, revealing some more land:

Once those Workers in the screenshot finish another Lumbermill and a road, I'll road towards the Barb city. A couple of sacrificial Warriors should soften up those Archers for my Priests to mop up, and gain some valuable experience.

Serdoa's stack hasn't moved this turn:

[Image: T88Faceoff.JPG]

I've placed a small stack of my own on a hill tile I really don't want to concede. They'll fortify while Serdoa's stack is visible.

Two turns till Priesthood, which will give me access to the panic button that is my Worldspell. smile

What were the options for that event, I dont remember that one?

You've been getting the bonus for a while now. Since gold/beakers get rounded at the empire level, the 3% bonus kicks in as soon as you are producing 34 beakers from cities that are trade connected to the capital.

Option 1 lets you sacrifice 3 pop from the trigger city to get some beakers.

Option 2 lets you keep your pop but does nothing otherwise.

IIRC, the beakers gained aren't worth the pop loss.

I'm behind on lurking, so bit of a necro:

pocketbeetle Wrote:Forests are definitely only 0.5 health, so you should only be getting 2.5 health rounded down to 2.

You're definitely not counting the Life mana and Agrarianism +1 health twice?

IIRC in BTS forests are 0.4 health and rounded to the closest integer. So 4 BTS forests = 1.6 = 2 health. Hence I would expect five 0.5 health forests to give 3 health.
I have to run.

I'm not 100% certain but I think it works like this

BTS: forests = 0.5 health (rounded down)

FFHII: forests = 0.6 health (rounded down)

Yup, definitely getting that bonus beaker for a while now. smile

I agree!

Now that he mentions it, I think Novice is right. I recall Sulla mentioning this in one of his threads.

The Civ basics haven't changed in the FFH mod, so I'd be very surprised if the FFH creators touched this game mechanic.

After running a couple of WB tests:

BTS:

1 F --> 0 health
2 F --> +1 health
3 F --> +1 health
4 F --> +2 health
5 F --> +2 health
10 F --> +5 health

FFHII:

1 F --> +1 health
2 F --> +1 health
3 F --> +2 health
4 F --> +2 health
5 F --> +3 health
10 F --> +5 health

1 New forest (+.25 health) --> 0 health
2 NF --> +1 health

So it looks like BTS rounds the 0.5 health/forest down and FFHII rounds 0.5 up.

Well, what do you know...

Thanks for that clarification, Thoth, good to know! smile

So, must leave an uneven number of forests around every city...
