I sign Dougherty, a 19 year old N.Irish RB on a free. He's not quite as good as Angus, but he's worth over 100k and could be sold by the next player if they so wish.

I switch to the 4-1-3-2 my Sheff Utd team use, we've got an 'easy' game vs 23rd placed Barnet to familiarize our team with it.

Wimbledon 2-1 Barnet

Took the lead when McInnes + Kalata combined well. Kalata still didn't have an easy finish but took the chance well. We then suffered a setback shortly after when a cross ricocheted off Harper for an own goal. The rest of the game we struggled to get much going, O'Neill despite playing in a DM position with deep lying playmaker and making him the teams playmaker totally failed ot get in the game, by the end of it he had the fewest passes of anyone in the team. Anyway the game was heading towards an unsatisfactory draw when in injury time Patterson had an excellent far post header from a corner to steal the 3 points. McInnes was also injured this match and is out for 2 months. Whether I like it or not, 4-5-1 and Kalata alone up front is what's needed. Well scrap that, got a virtual clone of Macdonald from West Ham on loan for 3 months.

Changed to 4-4-2 diamond

Wimbledon 0-2 Oxford

2 Early injuries to Angus + our loanee from West Ham. Oxford took the lead when Stewart dropped a simple catch from a corner and it fell it one of their players. In the 2nd half, one of their midfielders hit a 30 yarder into the top corner to confirm the result. We played alright and had more possession but lacked penetration up front. On the plus side O'Neill had a better game and was more involved. Most of our chances were created when he was on the ball.

Accrington 1-2 Wimbledon

A disappointing 1st half saw us go behind when one of our defenders headed a harmless cross straight to their striker. Decided to push creative freedom levels up and the 2nd half was a definite improvement. Howe combined well with Kalata to get us level, then a header from O'Neill after their goal kick sent Howe through again to grab his 2nd. Some last ditch defending in the last 15 mins preserved the lead.

6 games to go and promotion is certainly not assured, however with a bit of luck we could stil lwin the league too.

Looks good, 5 points with six games to go should see us through, though may be bums to the wall time. I won't be seeing this until tomorrow night at the earliest so play on Dantski.

About Dougherty, what does his scout report say, especially the difference between his CA stars and PA stars.

Thanks for asking Brian! Here's an update with 1 game and a month of not very much going on to go.

Shrewsbury 5-2 Wimbledon

A day when all our defending set pieces practice went to waste. Virtually every dangerous cross met a Shrewsbury head and Stewart can't save anything that isn't straight at him. Despite this we twice battle back to level terms and at 3-2 down Kalata missed a golden opportunity to level it at 3-3. Howe + McLaughlin were the scorers, the latter bagged an OG too.

Wimbledon 1-0 Chesterfield

A very important game between 3rd and 4th saw us sneak a late goal from Kalata. The game was tight with relatively few chances, our performance was fairly good.

The win puts us 8 points clear of Chesterfield with 4 games remaining

Bradford 2-1 Wimbledon

And our form continues to swing wildly, a fairly feeble effort and we got a lucky ricochet late on.

Wimbledon 2-1 Hereford

A very tight encounter, Zwane scored a nice goal to put us 1 up then the ball broke kindly for one of their stikers who equalized. Another late goal saw us snatch victory, this time Angus got his 1st goal of the year with a straightforward header at the near post from a corner.

This win guaranteed our automatic promotion spot!

Bury 0-3 Wimbledon

A game closer than the score suggests. Low scored 2 nice finishes (one after 15 seconds!) and Harper got a header in from a corner. O'Neill had a dominant performance in the middle of the park for once. 5 key passes from one player in a signle game is impressive. He was playing in CM with advanced playmaker role this game if anyone's interested.

We are offered a new contrat at £1.100 per week, I assume we want to accept?

I dunno about the contract, but then it depends what other jobs are around. At least its only a 1 year extension & I don't see us staying much longer than that!

Are we close to promotion? If we are I'd take the contract and see whats lying around next year.

But post the currently available/insecure jobs and we'll see.

The thing is that should we get promoted, it will be one heck of a struggle with the squad that we have.

I'm playing off the same starting save but as Crewe (my favourite lower league FM team) and have had 2 consecutive promotions but League 1 was really hard (playoff win) and I have some real quality in my team.

The squad is threadbare & we are likely to soon lose the few stars we have. I wouldn't sign the contract now, I'd wait until a month until it expires before giving an answer one way or another.

We aren't likely to get much higher than an established League 1 club/relegated team from Championship, but I really think we should jump ship - we won't have the finances/investment at Wimbledon and we need to stabalize as 1 relegation will cause us problems.

A point from our last game guarantees 2nd spot, Aldershot need to win and have us lose to take 2nd from us.

I agree that we'll likely be midtable at best next year so jumping ship soon is a good idea. I think I'll not sign the contract for now and leave it upto Brian

No problems, then. I'll have a look at available jobs when I get the save and do nothing else.

Oldham 0-1 Wimbledon

And we sign off for this season with a win. We edged the game but couldn't put away our chances, in the end we didn't need to, as an OG in the 92nd minute got us the 3 points

2nd place nets us £10,500.

Our GD was certainly poor for a 2nd placed team, the main reason we ended up comfortably promoted instead of in the playoffs was our ability to turn draws into narrow wins. In fact looking at the fixtures since I took over. we drew just 3 games, one of those was in the FA Cup. The other main thing to note this season was none of our strikers got going. McInnes was our top league scorer with 7.

Since I told the Chairman I'd delay the contract decision till the end of the season, he's come calling again. It's the 27th of May so I'm cutting my turnset short by a whopping 4 days! :neenernee

Available jobs are outside of England at present, Charlton job in League 1 could open up though and looks like a decent one at first glance.
