[SPOILERS] Dhalphir PB13

Oh, I forgot to report that Bacchus separated his numidians from his stack last turn. I don't know if he will try to bypass any cities, but there is one in range he could threaten - Tarsonis. I thought it had ample defenses, but I was an idiot and was looking just at the dots and the first unit - it has four units in it, but only one longbow and an axe. The other two are workers. So I think I'm going to lose some cities up there to Bacchus. I think my empire was a very poor shape to try to defend from two extreme fronts like this.

I don't regret that, I mean - I had no other option than to settle this way, but it does make things difficult.

Looks like I might have lost Aiur, according to civstats.

Bacchus offered peace for all of the three of my northern cities.

That. Cheeky. Fucker.

Well, I'm not going to give them to him. He doesn't have the forces to take more than one of my cities up there, I don't think. Maybe two. Certainly not three, and if he is going to take two, I'm going to make sure it costs him troops to do so, regardless of my future in this game.

So I counteroffered with peace for ALL of his cities. Hopefully he gets the message I am trying to convey

Bacchus, when you read this after the game, you can have my cities when you take them from my dead hands. Put 'em up you pansy.

And yes, Aiur was lost to Plako. Cost Plako several maces, a few knights, and all of his catapults to do so, but he got it.

Summary for this turn - I whipped another longbow everywhere that was able to - six more whips in total. Tarsonis will fall to Bacchus next turn, but the longbow whip knocked it down to size 1, so it's a pretty worthless city for a long time.

Things remaining to be seen - whether Plako will push forward and try to wipe me out or offer peace. I don't intend to accept peace for nothing if he does. It doesn't cost me anything to remain at war, and he doesn't need ten free turns to consolidate things and focus on his other island boundaries. If he wants a breather to regroup, consolidate his gains, and come at me again later, he can pay for the privilege so I can buy more upgraded units.

I offered pindicator the city of Koprulu for 20 gold per turn (200 gold in total). It's not to deny it to bacchus, but to raise money for upgrading my legacy archer garrisons to longbows. And it might be an attractive city to pindicator given the location as a foothold in the next continent.

The one thing I hope doesn't happen is that plako and/or bacchus offer peace in the next couple of turns leaving me with a divided and pointless empire of hitting enter until the end of the game. That is the one disadvantage of playing hard defense - sometimes you're too hard to wipe out completely.

even if they offer peace, it makes more sense to kill you off after 10 or 20 turns. that's because the conquered cities will all have heavy unhappiness penalties. keep defending strongly (good job!) and don't worry about pushing enter forever.

I think the whip anger counter is reset when a city is conquered. Or are you talking about join the motherland anger making it necessary for the conquering civ to go ahead and finish the job? Now that I reread it, I think that is what you actually mean.

Plako is continuing south with his armies.

The power graph is quite satisfying. I've been able to kill almost as much power worth of plako's army as he killed of mine, so that's good. I've made him pay a decent chunk of hammers for my cities.

I sold the island city of Umoja to Azza. It only just occurred to me, looking at civstats, that it's going to look like I gave it away completely. I suppose I'll clear that up after the game.
