North Korea Part II- The Final Naming Scheme

Suttree went on a huge whipping spree. Realizing I'm not long for this world, I took proactive measures to at least win the naval front.

Won 3 at 50%, 1 at 66% and lost 1 at 50% and 1 at 66%. Yeah, that extra combat promotion raised my odds of winning by 16%, naval combat is a little stupid crazyeye Statistically, results were a little in my favor, but nothing crazy

Offered this to Suttree:

Doubt he accepts

He accepted. Now to see how many cats I can build in 10 turns

CS in, economy still sucks. I give myself 20 turns until I'm eliminated, my borders are just too hard to completely defend even with the ludicrous amount of military I've been forced to build.

Plan, gift my military to WilliamLP, let him conquer the rest of the world and then commando strike his capital for the conquest win. Wait, this isn't civ 5? Well is this the time when I start considering a fool-hardy CV?

Guess I'm getting musketeer'd instead.

Well until then, I'll keep building that military:

Finally re-read, man was my play terrible:

-Didn't emphasize granaries and by extension slavery nearly enough as I should have. I instead slowbuilt settlers/workers against the happy cap, which is just so inefficient contrasted with slaving them. I didn't have a granary in a size 6 city on turn 65!

-Idiotic meta gaming post against Sisu that I thankfully didn't go through with. In my defense I was operating under the assumption that there was no one to the south of us

-Didn't build nearly enough military to support my expansion. Especially when WilliamLP invaded, that could have easily been prevented.

-Unfocused tech path that delayed math and currency way too long

I do think my play improved as the game progressed, but of course I had already lost by then. My raising of an army and then exploiting Suttree's tactical blunder to get more territory worked out pretty well. I fully expect to get elimated soon, probably by a dogpile between Suttree, Molach and WilliamLP.

Oh well, at least I know what I did wrong. PB14 is where I'll be focusing most of my energies now.

That said, how is this even closed to balanced?

Retep has access to more land than anybody AND doesn't have any land connections to anybody else. Not to mention he has access to post-astro land that other people have no hope of getting.

Hey, you had "aggressive" Rome next to you and a Sisu with an amazing start and then a surprise to the SE. Wouldn't have been easy game no matter what you did.

If I recall you were pushing pretty hard for Caste for the culture. You're not retrospectively revaluing your push for caste are you? Well, I guess you were spiritual so they're not mutually exclusive. Nevermind.

Granaries are good.

That I found myself councelling peace was most peculiar.

Thanks Mindy smile

I saw that Boldy's thread is blowing up, so I decided to give an update in case anybody wants my perspective. Unfortunately all text, but I figured some people might be interested.

-I saw Suttree getting musketeers and then cuirs and then blow a bunch of gold on knight upgrades. I figured my time was up, so I withdrew most of my army from our border city so I would at least cat this stack and do some damage. However, then Suttree decides to use his military to raze a couple cities off of huge-power-spike-Byzantium-in-med-age. This told me two things: Suttree is majorly checked out from this game and Xenu is going to waste the rest of his game seeking vengeance.

-Considering how powerful Byzantium is, I decided to ally with the winning party. I gave xenu a loan(or at least I hope he interprets it as a loan) of 150g because I'm pretty sure he's losing gold at 0% right now. I'm going to try to gain some territory out of this war with my huge army of ancient era trash and then hope Xenu(who I doubt is playing for the win anymore) will tolerate this because we've had a pretty good AI-diplo relationship this game.

-I'm DOWing suttree in two turns when the borders of my island/moai city pop as suttree has a decent amount of triremes in the water.
