Made the unit moves as per the above, and we have no redshirts ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) Don't forget that our happy is +1 from Carthage's furs at the moment. They be going back sooner rather than later because we don't want to get hooked on them
Turn ended.
I've had a change of mind up at Sticky Fingers: Uberfish's border pop will bring the shared FP into play, so I think Jerry should road for two turns then move NE-NE and road up to England's silks, which they will connect soon(ish) to open trade routes. She can then turn around and complete the cottage. Carla can work on the FP's cottage after completing the road on her current tile. How does this sound?
We have visibility of Incan graphs and they're doing rather badly ![alright alright](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/alright.gif) As one might expect of a civ who launched a futile rush and got cut out of many tech trades. I think we should continue to put EPs on them until we reach 43 then switch away. We could also ask them for OBs; if they accept we get one way trade routes until they road to us because they lack Sailing.
Here's hoping we don't have one of the all-time most improbable defeats and lose Black and our two workers

Any reason you switched to a Skirmisher at Sirian? We'll finish a Skirmisher in Blake next turn, and I think Chariots are far more useful for dealing with barbs right now. They can attack Axemen instead of having to defend, and they have 2 movement so they can cover more area. Plus, we should try to get a unit to 10XP so we can build the heroic epic, and Chariots will help with that.
I've switched Sirian to a Chariot. If you feel strongly that it should be a skirmisher feel free to change it

Skirmisher was selected when I logged in, so maybe you switched over and forgot to switch back
I tweaked the builds to put Blake on a Chariot (3t) and Sirian to a Skirmisher (2t). This gives us an extra unit at Sirian fast without having to switch to working mines when we want to work cottages. Chariot from can head north if required, or clear the fog by the gems west of Blake if not.
EDIT: I think Lucky Maya should head home (skirting Inca on the way): we'll be getting map trades before too long in game, and we already have a lot of map knowledge via email.

T84 Partial report
Turn started very badly: Ian was defeated by the barb warrior (25%) and only managed to land a couple of blows (1.1) ![rolleye rolleye](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/rolleye.gif) Although production happens before movement, so our new skirmisher would have saved Sirian, another (very) bad roll would have made things awkward for us. Thankfully, Charlie won without taking a scratch at 94%, and Black defeated the barb warrior (99.1%) who had moved E of the rice at Uberfish. Phew!
Workers moved under Black and roaded which (also connected Sticky Fingers). Unless another barb pops up, they will be able to farm the rice next turn.
Mick headed SW, revealing an HRE city (to which we have a trade connection in Sticky) and Lucky Maya moved E-NE out of India. Carla completed her road and can move to the shared FP next turn, but Jerry is unmoved because I didn't get feedback about switching to a road.
Research increased to 100%, Calendar due in 4 with enough cash in the bank to see us through.
Pictures will follow later, but I logged out to let Maya play on a dodgy hotel internet connection

City Overview T84
A decent commerce-hammer hybrid city, this will be a key city all game long. Weâll want to cottage that annoying jungle tile before too long, and probably cottage one or two of the non river grass tiles, but not before building another river hill mine.
Quite possibly the worst second city on the map, but itâs ours and we love it anyway ![kiss kiss](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/kiss.gif) More seriously, it will start to come into its own soon, as we farm the rice, mine the grass hill and add more river cottages.
Early game military pump, settled to get as much into its first ring as possible (and Iâm very glad we did so). Once we get some culture in here (or in Paint It Brown) and can farm its FP, we can alternate settlers/workers & military.
Settled in part to block CRE England from claiming this spot, the city is more or less hammer free, so weâll have to crack the whip if we want anything to get built. Once it has its library in place, we should hire two scientists ASAP to get ourselves an academy in Sirian (and work off some whip anger).
Another low hammer site, this at least has half a dozen FPs, an oasis and river dyes to work. Like Sticky Fingers, it is sited on a hill for defensive reasons. Will rely on units from Blake to garrison & deter any thoughts Inca may have of attacking us.
Where to settle next? Thatâs our biggest headache right now as youâll in my next postâ¦

The southeast is severely compromised by a huge amount of desert. We could swipe Babylon's horses, but that's hardly the right way to treat our longstanding ally
Given that Rome & Inca are in this neighbourhood, then maybe the FP city should be placed SE on the desert hill. We'll need to be able to road this FP area very soon after founding because of the long and limited supply lines
Whichever way you look at it, this is pretty unattractive land to settle in the near term

If the southeast is problematic then the northwest is simply ![hammer hammer](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/hammer.gif) 2: The only viable spots are much closer to the English capital than our own and, with Carthage not far off, they are pretty much indefensible (in every sense of the word).
I'm still hoping to reveal some food so that we can put a city where the chariot is pictured, but it's not looking good.

So here it is: the land of milk & honey. Or Maya as it's more commonly known
Joking aside, we've been assured by our friends that the fog NW of Blake contains pigs, corn & iron. We've not received any intel about the fog south of the Gems, but if we were to settle 2S of them, then based on the tiles we can see we'd get 4 FPs and a couple of grass hills as well, which is ![jive jive](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/jive.gif) in anyone's book.

Do we have a settling agreement with Maya that lets us settle the gems?

In the SE, I think the best spot near the pics and corn is 1W of where the warrior is in the screenshot. The site 1S of that just gets us a bunch more desert, and 1E of that gives up two grass hills. We are kind of low on production and the site I prefer has 4 grass hills.
Down near the floodplains, do we have a settling agreement with Inca? If not, we could settle on the site you have marked, and then also poach the site marked "barb w t84" as our defensive border city.
