Serdoa Wrote:Hi SL,

sorry that I didn't send earlier an email with my formal war declaration. I am sorry that I had to attack you because I think that you are one of the nicest players I have met so far.

Kind regards,
Serdoa

Fair play. Still you could have gone and attack one of those nasty players instead! lol

I think he made a mistake not bringing a few warriors along. Still, without Copper I don't see how you get enough Warriors to attack out and kill that stack. Can you post a shot from F5, it looked like you had about 3 WGs and 4 Warriors. He's probably (?) going to go NW->SW->W-NW to fork your cities. I guess you could chop that forest so at least he's on a flat tile, but you'd need crazy combat luck to have a chance.

plako and I have been discussing this quite extensively over the past couple of days. I believe that we can hold out and kill that stack if we can make him focus on our capital rather than heading down to the 2nd city.

The basic plan is to try and force him in that direction and hopew for the best... We will be chopping a tile or two to get some flat ground to hopefully hit him once or twice about the face with a pick-axe or maybe give him a nasty splinter... yeah that'll teach him!

I don't have time unfortunately to go into details at this really interesting time, and i'm not sure that plako will - I certainly don't expect it! wink Maybe I'll post the chat logs at some point to show you all what we have been discussing.

Situation in the beginning of the turn Serdoa has 10 PZs + 1 warrior:

I did some minor tile allocations and removed Scientist from Totoro to maximise hammers. Mud Golem was moved 1E of the Totoro and it chops the forest there.

The most harmful tile for Serdoa to occupy is the forest SE-SE from Totoro. From there he could threaten both cities at the same time. I moved best warrior Happy there+Wood Golem. If he wants to get there he needs to pay for it. I also put similar stacks both SW and NW of it. Again hoping that he won't take a shot against Happy so he would need to attack either one of those to cross the river or attack units in a hill, if he wants to get good position to attack the city.

We got event that gave 1 happiness to the Valley of Wind after convicting husband.

Serdoa seems to be heading towards capital so I moved everything but 1 warrior towards it and put the Sciz in the hill tile (sry wink). on their way. It is probably wise to attack with some units next turn, if they end up in flat land. Maybe we could take out the heroic strength Zombie.

Turn 67

Thanks to plako for playing a couple of turns this weekend.

I got back last night in time to play T67 and I was chatting with plako as I went through it.

First up a pretty useless event:

If I had this event early on it would have been great since I explored a few Graveyards! But not today methinks...

plako and I discussed what we should do:

Quote:me: ok
I think we need to pick off the heroic strength PZ now...
happy the warrior has odds
plako: Unfortunately it isn't top defender. But I had similar idea
We need to try to wear it down in battles that minimize collatteral damage
me: tricky...

Trcky indeed - the mutated PZ is also diseased so it isn't going to be top defender for a while - that said it isn't as strong as it could have been...

The first thing I did was move Barny 1W along the brown arrow so that he was safe. You can see the purple line where Serdoa moved SW.

Happy - our 14xp C2 shock warrior has odds on the top PZ at this point and so I took the opportunity to smack it - he won and I in trying to hit function print screen on laptop I scrolled far to the left and took a shot in the fog! lol

I then sent Sciz in at 67.6% odds and he also won killing my 2nd PZ! jive Unfortunately he was so badly damaged that the splash damage of the next battle killed him - oh yes - I sent in another WG at 73% odds and won too! jive

plako wasn't as keen on sending in the final WG:

Quote:plako: yeah it is just a unit he might want to kill and split the stack
i.e. make mistake
But go ahead, if it looks good
Every kill is win
me: fuck it - if I can kill 3 PZ's it has to be good...
WIN!
man I'm really happy
i even fist pumped the air
plako: wink. You got quite lucky
But I think this probably saves us
7 PZs is lot less intimidating
me: maybe but I had odds in every battle... should've lost 1 of the 3 though
plako: Did Sciz die?
me: ye[
plako: ok

So homage needs to be paid to Sciz the Scary - he fought bravely but ultimately - burnt to death on the hill east of Totoro - Must remember to put a sign there to mark his grave! bow

Here is what remains of Serdoa's stack:

Much more manageable but still quite scary...

That was enough attacking for now and I needed to regroup and force Serdoa to move NW next turn if possible.

EDIT - more to come shortly....

Turn 67 continued

So in the Valley of Wind I hired a citizen rather than working a 5f/1c tile - the extra hammer getting the warrior 1t sooner! In normal CIV where slavery is sooo good this would never even be considered! lol

Over at the capital I ran max hammers to complete the WG at the end of turn and overflow into another WG to finish in 1t next turn:

to

I'll work the corn next turn and still complete the WG in 1t and not starve.

So here is the military composition:

Hopefully Serdoa will move NW but there is a chance he will move SW to the hill - if he does then plako and I are going to have to have some more tactics 101 chats! lol Otherwise I can re-inforce next turn and see what happens...
