Gavagai pillaged the road as expected...good thing I was prepared.
We have four more turns before the peace treaty runs out...just enough time to chop out two units (most likely an axe and a WC). Redemption will build a spear to play zone defense between The Rock and the capitol before switching back to archers since they can be built quicker. I think Rohan is going to be forced to 1 pop whip an axe (copper already hooked up and the road connection will finish next turn) into a WC at sz 3 and then 1 pop whip the WC into the granary the following turn before switching back to the archer. Unfortunately, we just don't have the time we need to build the granary at the expense of units.
Slowcheetah has me a little nervous with his galley showing up. The power graph shows why I should be concerned...
The past several turns have been pretty intense as I have been checking the graphs and demos every turn (same for espionage screen) along with the obvious dilemma of preparing for the resumption of the Gavagai war. If Slowcheetah decides to dog pile on us with Gavagai (although not sure why he would) then we are officially toast. Good thing we are building more units.
The demos...
An archer we built this turn pushed us back to the number 2 power slot. The rest...

The only way anyone is ever going to take us (meaning me since the mistakes have been mine) seriously is to stand our ground and show good warring skills. Chariots vs axes isn't exactly a fair fight AND WE HELD. We still have options and it isn't out of the realm of possibility that we can take back Wall St. and wipe out the units Gavagai has in Waterdeep (I refuse to use the names he has for those cities). Both of our former cities are swamped in our culture so we really do have a tactical edge if we were to launch a targeted counter-offensive. TBH, I think we should see what we can accomplish on that end before trying to flee (especially since we can't win the game anyway).
On a side note, if we had not lost two of our cities, out of who we have contact with, we would have been first to six cities. With a small adjustment to our tech path (i.e. grabbing Archery earlier so we had archers on the hill defending Wall St.) we would be doing quite well. One small strategic mistake cost us dearly in this game but at the same time, it is a mistake that is easily corrected in future games.

Lamenting what could have been...
Gavagai got his shrine (which I missed until now) as I thought he would do. If we wouldn't have been attacked (or at least not lost cities), it looks like we would have been able to get Construction way before Gavagai (assuming he was always planning on researching Monarchy). Should have had those darn archers. I went ahead and checked and we would need 85 gold to research Sailing in 5t (less if we could run scientists).
Although we will have our gold back online in 2 more turns, having an unpillageable gold resource for happiness is too good of a deal to pass up. I hope Slowcheetah accepts. We could use the commerce from working the gold so we want it improved regardless.
GNP 1? Totally stumped. Besides that, just getting our whips set up...lots of boring micro stuff. Gavagai now has 7 cities (including the two he took from us) so in the end we're going to lose the production race. Although he hasn't added to his army, it is probable he is setting up whips just like we are. If we could buy enough time to reach Sailing, it would be a real good idea to grab a city on the island near Redemption. More troops (even if just archers), intercontinental trade routes, and a safe settler pump would be good benefits to doing so. We would have to be careful though since he does have a city on the coast (Clam shows on the trade screen). As a precaution, I am sending Sacagawea to keep an eye on the coastal approach to our capitol.

Definitely this. Someone is swapping civics. Actually, I think someone switched into Confucianism. The founding of the religion happened the same turn I took that screenshot. I check the religion screen (mainly to gauge tech pace) every so often and noticed when I played last turn the religion had been founded.

Swapping civics/religion. I should have said revolting, although that could be an adjective as well as a verb. Still, same point for C&D purposes. It's the free bonus beaker.
