Q: How is Sullla able to watch the other guys duke it out like this? I see he has a settler parked off to the side ... but that doesn't give vision like he is showing. Is it some debug option? If so, how to I enable it?
Edit: I just saw this and it looks like a bunch of fun. Someone, please, PM me next year (if it happens again) so that I can join in.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

He has a civ and, during setup, he edits the game and dumps a great spy into the capitol of every civ.

The great spy is mainly to be able to see demographics, he's able to see everything because of debug mode.

I'm guessing I have to use the secret code in the ini file and then mash a certain key combo ... what is the key combo?

try going to the end of one of the earlier videos - he generally set up the next game at the end of the game that was running, so you should be able to see what he did.

Google is your friend (GIYF?) ...
I googled 'civ4 cheat code reveal map' and that included some CFC posts, one of which said ...
Quote:In debug mode, CTRL-Z will reveal the map
To get into debug mode ...
Quote:turn on cheatcodes in the ini, then use SHIFT-~, and type "gc.getGame().toggleDebugMode()"
Quote:Or just ~(Ü in EU keyboards), and type game.toggledebugmode
Also - while reading this thread, I saw this ...

You could even remove the requirement that you have met the other player. Then the AI wouldn't even know you existed (no more 'join in this war' requests) unless they stumble on you later in the game.

The only "secret" tool that I use is Ctrl-Z to reveal the whole map, after entering debug mode. Everything else is standard use of the Worldbuilder: map editing, moving AI start positions, using the diplo tool to set perma-Friendly status, etc. If you want to see it in action, I do recommend AutomatedTeller's advice and simply watching any one of the many setup videos. I prefer not to mod Civ4, by all means tinker away if you enjoy it.

I'm... not entirely sure how any regular visitor to Realms Beyond could miss that this event was going on, seeing as how I updated this thread every week for five straight months on end. And kept updating my website, and Livestream, and Twitter. There's only so much that I can do to get the word out.
