I have to agree with T-hawk, it probably would be better to re-start and spend the next 3-6 months playing un-adulterated game. I am fine with continue as I think I am in a strong position to make something of it but also think, if continued, there will be a grey cloud of future actions.

I agree with a new map with similar set up, no thread reading, and the option for a new civ if so desired. I suggest replacement gets first choice and then maybe reverse of the original picks there after if people want to change.

Cornflakes, Are you able to play in Mike's window?

I would also suggest another set of threads be created just so that the beginning is the start of the game and such.

I see Mike's window as 1900-0000 GMT on the first post which is perfect for my evening window. For full disclosure, I have read all the previous planning in the other threads. Not sure how much that would have an impact. I also know more about the overall geography of the map, having written the script. If you can find someone else to fill the spot that might be better.

Are we going to play the same map? I would assume it would be some sort of slight variation of the initial map. As we said, we want this game to get going pretty soon, what do we do if we can't find another player than Cornflakes?

Is there someone to edit the map for us? Cornflakes, as you are part of the general lurking thread, could you ask whether there is someone who can create a new map. I would be fine with you being a replacement for Mike taking all the circumstances into account. There will be hardly anyone suitable, so I guess I am fine with you.

Are we calling it PBEM7b or PBEM8?

If not do we just do 2v2v2?

I am pretty certain Sulla is fine with a restart. Of course, we can do a 2 v 2 v 2. Four team feels a little better

Any opinions about Cornflakes being a replacement for Mike, people?

I'm fine with Cornflakes. He may know a bit more about the map script, but if it's the same as last time then we at least have our scouting information to fall back on. And I'd prefer 4 teams, as well.

I am fine with Cornflakes replacing Mike. As an aside, I think it would be an interesting experiment to continue this game with Cornflakes and see if someone, with world knowledge, can dig out of the hole Mike has left (but that is just my curiosity).

Not a big deal that he wrote the map script. I think we got far enough that most should have a sense of the map anyways. The only issue would be to find someone interested in using WorldBuilder to check/balance the strategic resources.

I should clarify - Singaboy and I did not have a chance to discuss this in our thread. I am *NOT* looking to continue this game if there is a restart. I was invested in the current game and starting over again from scratch holds no interest for me. I would be uncomfortable trying to have a "do-over" after playing out the first 40 turns and tipping off the other teams on how I planned to play out the opening moves. You can only hold this kind of event once before the cat's out of the bag, so it's probably better for someone else to take over and provide a fresh look. And whether anyone believes me or not, I was never intending to take an active role in this game in the first place. I only hopped in here to help out Brick while he was personally unavailable. Perhaps he'll be able to resume his original spot now. If not, I imagine that there will be someone lurking the game who'd be willing to partner with Singaboy.

This was a lot of fun and I truly did want to continue the game as it was unfolding.

To be honest, Sulla's thoughts are my exact sentiments. I think our and other teams have spent a lot of time on the opening moves. I dread to think about replaying this under slight variation.
Even our team got robbed off a religious choice, we made amends nevertheless and would be ready to continue.

I would be willing to continue with Cornflakes as a replacement.

As I can see it, the current game as a replay won't happen due to difficulty of assembling replacements, finding people who didn't read the threads etc.
