You for sure keep it. The fast worker is a completely different unit. It isn't like a war chariot becomes a regular chariot if you gift it.

A common joint venture is to have an Indian civ capture another civ's workers, which then become fast workers. Then gift them back to the original owner. It requires a wardec though so I wouldn't advocate it in this case, as it would trash our trade routes.
I have to run.

CFC would have to be crazy to give us fast workers. Maybe if we tie it to the marble they failed to provide... it'd still be crazy.

Pretty sure it's not worth asking. And that'll be double true after the Lib race.

Ceil: Why do you think it's not worth asking? Even if they refuse we can see how they do it. Also, it's not like we are asking them to give us workers for free, we are asking for an exchange.

Asking again, what would we be willing to pay for a fast worker? A regular worker + gold or a cat and half a WC are options.

We have plenty of workers, and I don't see any great need for Fast Workers at present. This doesn't feel like a useful topic to pursue diplomatically.

I think the idea was to get a pair to use for tricksy combat roading during wartime. Surely this could be useful for the right price?

CFC are so unlikely to go for it that it's barely worth asking. If I were in CFC's position and was asked by our neighbour, who is also the runaway leader, to sell some fast workers I'd just get annoyed with them.

@Sullla: As scooter said, it'd be for later when they won't sell them for sure. Now there's at least a chance.

@soooo: You'd get annoyed and... what would you do? It's not like you'd attack that runaway neighbor right?

Anyway, sounds like there's some consensus to not even ask...

No, but annoyed is enough. In a game that involves diplomacy we care about our reputation with other teams.

Up to this point I've been all for a diplomatic stance that is gracious and even over the top in order to maintain strong relationships with other civs. However, once we complete our liberalism push and our situation jumps forward, no one who is a contender will want to work with us. So I will still advocate over the top grace towards minor teams to avoid dogpiles and seek potential benefits, but that will not happen with anyone "contending" to win no matter what we do.

In other words, I don't think the possibility of annoying CFC is really something to be concerned by. Yes, let's avoid pissing them off. But if they are annoyed because we ask if they'd be interested in trading for Fast Workers, then they aren't really annoyed by the request. They're just annoyed we're winning. And as for that, no apology will be forthcoming.
