Civilization V Solo Reports

Yeah I'm still playing Civ 5. Here's more, and what may have been the magnum opus I was trying to achieve and deliver.

Nice one! And great reporting as usual. The second freedom game came together much more smoothly. Another thing I like about freedom is that it is much less micro intensive. You just stagnate and work your specialists and science tiles and then purchase the parts.

@ T-Hawk on bnw20 - "And another thing that went badly was a thoroughly lackluster capital in Seoul. It only reached an anemic size 17 by the end of the game. It's only working 8 Petra tiles, which really isn't enough, a true wonder powerhouse wants 15+."
why not buy and mine two desert hills marked with question marks? anyway, great reports as always I suppose you will eventually switch to civ6. when do you plan to? how many civ5 reports remain?

An ideal strategy game would tone down efficiency challenges, while promoting choices and conflicts No gods or kings. Only Man.
Seoul didn't need more tiles. The problem wasn't a lack of them, it was not enough population to work them, especially considering Korea's greater priority on specialists.
Civ 6, I'm not sure what I'll do. My obstacle is needing a computer rebuild with 64-bit Windows. Which I could do, but don't really feel like investing that much effort for any game, even Civ. I have a few more things to try in 5 and probably at least one will be worth a report. (December 4th, 2016, 09:53)T-hawk Wrote: Seoul didn't need more tiles. At the cost of 5 beakers and 6 gold. Beakers constitute the finish line. Nothing that any number of Petra hills could build would make up that beaker production. And the tiles were expensive, something like 200 gold each, that's half a research lab and that beaker opportunity cost would never be made up either.
Really enjoy reading these reports, T-Hawk. Congratulations on the latest accomplishment!

OK, if you want more, I'll toss an idea up here for feedback.
I want to play the Shoshone with Jesuit Education. What's my best path through the policies, what can I give up to get that? The usual path is 6 in Tradition or Liberty 3 in Commerce up to Mercantilism (including the Oracle) 6 in Rationalism 6 in Order/Freedom including the two free tenets and Kremlin/Statue One more is possible with World's Fair. What corners can I cut to get to the Reformation, preferably within the first 9 policies so as not to delay Rationalism? |
