I hope your parents are ok Ichabod.

that sucks, ichabod. I've had my house burgaled before, but never when anyone was home. And I have no idea why anyone would take a pet - that's just mean.

Hope parents recover well...

That's terrible, man. What kind of degenerates kick a woman or steal a dog? I hope they're promptly caught, and your parent's property is recovered.

That's horrible dude, and rather scary that they came prepared for a confrontation. Sounds pretty brutal, hope your parents get back on their feet soon.

Here's hoping the dog manages to escape and make it's way back or you spot it on craigslist or something (and gives them a bite or 2 in the process)

Thanks, DaveV and Molach. The names will be useful, by the way, it's nice to have a connoisseur around these parts. cool

Some pictures of the last turn:

Dazed declared on THH, which makes me feel more safe.

My mind isn't working straight recently, so I only noticed that THH borders to our NW had disappeared after the borders of OT popped and I saw this:

---

The big news of the turn is that we got the Mids, a perfect 335/335 hammers, nothing to spare...

---

We will revolt to REP next turn and settle our 8th city, 2E of the marble. It'll work the plains cow for a turn and then it'll grab the corn from GT. This way, it'll finish with 7/14 food at size 1 after the granary is whipped. Simming would probably reveal a better way to do this, but right now I'm content with good enough, I don't have the mind for really trying to perfect things.

The other settler in production will likely go here:

Yeah, it's agressive towards Dazed, but there's really nothing he can do without sailing. And he's already at war.

---

After that, we probably need a city around here:

On the sugar would be a killer city, but we can't get the pigs culturally against Dazed and his Stonehenge. So, I'm thinking about settling 1E of the sugar, farming rice and sugar and growing onto cottages. We'll explore further before any of this happens, though.

---

Overview. The keen eye probably already spotted that I'm working a 1/1 tile in GT. Yeah, that's really awful, but it was a consequence of the Mids push + lack of proper simming. That 1 food and 1 hammer will be needed to grow a size and finish the WB, so there's that. Next turn, it'll work one of the mines from LS. The following turn, at size 6, it'll work 4 cottages and 2 mines, which is decent.

Cities.

Regarding what Mardoc commented on the previous post:

*After improving the cows, some of the workers will build the road between OT and Marble City (which will be called Masala Chai, so it keeps the MC). Our power is looking more healthy now and THH + Dazed war takes heat of our backs too. We need more defenses near Commodore now.

*The farm in IB and OT is temporary, being used to grow faster, because I thought only 1 deer was low for IB (since I'm giving the seafood to OT). I'll grow those cities a lot, than, probably change to a cottage. Or simply use as surplus for more specialists. It's not being worked this turn, but next turn it'll be used to grow OT a turn sooner, while IB gets the cottage,

*The Mids run took a big hit on our worker turns, because chopping on quick speed is very time consuming. I'll probably get some more workers here and there, the next one likely in GT after the WB, another one in OT, perhaps PPM. One of the new cities is purely coastal, so not a hit on worker labor, but I agree with you. I tend to halt worker production after some time and we still need more here. Just have to find good places to get them...

---

*Do we whip the library in EG? I'm guessing no, because we need to grow the city to size 10, not whip it. So, I'm thinking of going for Maths before we have the library ready and chop some boosted forests on the library, hopefully with religion already spread there. Then, we use the library to get to Currency.

*Do we whip IB for the library? I'm not sure, but I think so. Working those scientists will be really good to reach Maths in a good time.

That eliminates the main worry I had. As long as we keep enough military that neither wants to fight us + their main opponent, we're in good shape.

Man, this is just a good turn. The happiness will probably be immediately useful, and the specialist bonus useful soon.

Seems reasonable. Should pay for itself as soon as we reach Currency, at least. And I also approve of settling a city or two that doesn't need worker help.

How about the plains hill? Not quite as good a city as what you propose, but hill + river defense is good in a border city, and the city tile boost makes up a little bit for the other tiles.

I guess it depends on how long you expect the war to go; maybe we'll have knights by the time he's ready to consider attacking us. Or maybe we'll be the ones doing the attacking. If either of those is true, then we don't have to worry about defensive terrain.

Good. Mainly what I wanted the road for was to be more efficient with our garrisons, and that'll definitely help us do more with less.

Ok, fair enough. I admit, the proper balance between food and cottages may be different with Mids and non-Fin. My gut feel assumptions probably aren't quite as correct with those factors.

Makes sense. I understand why we're a little short, but it does seem too early to stop building them. Especially with math coming in soon; we'll want a lot of chopping done right afterward.

Seems logical. It won't be that long anymore before we can have Academy and Bureau, so it's time to start treating the city gently.

I'm going to disagree here. The problem is, if we whip IB, then we have to pick between working scientists and working the resources. Scientists are really good! But so are gems and food and even the stone quarry. I think we can't use the library immediately even if we do whip it, so there's no point in hurrying.
