Religion came last turn.
Chopped the work boat out of Labrador. Mines and cottages for the time being, I don't want to chop much more until Math.
Out east we looted helpless villages:

I could have sworn I moused over the Avoid Growth Button and made sure it was turned off last turn.
This turn it was turned on. So we just lost a turn of growth in the capital. Glad to see my mistake-filled gameplay from 76 has been fixed...

After all the messups, we've finally gotten the capital to size 4 at end of turn.
Still, that's 2 turns slower than the original plan...
Chop is timed for next turn, and we'll probably be whipping the settler out on t13. Then going for the Horse/Wheat/Gold spot. Confucius missionary is fog busting in the area, but he spotted a panther this turn, so we'll have to send our archer that way to cover. Sending my initial archer to explore may have been a mistake - we're missing a lot of worker-turns with the unhappiness at Labrador. When it grows to 4 I'll probably set it on a worker and slow-build that - don't want to get too reactionary against the unhappiness because gems and gold will both be hooked up soonish.
Oh, and we did meet Commodore from the southwest. He beat us to a hut this last turn, so we know he has 2 scouts out and about. I mean, am I surprised that Commodore is our neighbor? It's usually a surprise when he isn't.

When you play in the same games over and over and its a low number of players having the same neighbors will happen. That being said, you do seem to have above average luck of rolling him as a neighbor as I do with SD.

It was a running joke when we both started playing games here, that we'd always be neighbors. Even in the big games.

Yeah, this has been happening in every game dating back to what, PB5? Most of which were moderate-to-big games. The fact that it's still happening when it's up to coin flip odds instead of ~10% is still very funny.

You say that like its a bad thing.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Settler is out, Iron Working is finished:
We have Iron in the east, and found Copper in the west. I'm still heading for Horse & Gold. The panther ended up heading east and running into my archer. Said archer is coming west to become garrison for the new city.
It's tempting to just throw all 3 workers on the gems and get it hooked up ASAP but I'm going to build a pair of workers and just put one on chopping for now. The other two workers will help get the new city up and running.
Maybe I should be doing HBR next instead of Math?

The name for city #3 is perhaps a little too on the nose:
I still have zero micro plan and am still winging it. So far the plan for Golden Retriever is "improve and connect resources" with two workers, while the other three workers improve connect the jungled resources at Labrador. But I should probably be chopping out a granary there? I certainly don't want to whip anything with the lack of food. Golden will be important in the short term, but will struggle to get past size 3.
I need more scouting, so it's a work boat out of Labrador this turn. Next up is a pair of warriors for MP duty so the archers can push out a little more (first line of raging barb defense). Once we get some chariots we should be better equipped. And of course, HBR is the next target.
