SPOILERS - PBEM8 Serdoas going to war

India moved an Axe in visibility, on the way to the fortified archer. As I have no interest in having an axe choking there as well I finally decided to bite it and get rid of some warriors. I finally lost 3 Warriors and 1 Axe to get rid of 1 Archer (ouch cry ). My 2nd Axe could kill him and is now fortified on that forested hill with 3.8 health left and promoted to Combat1.

I think his Axe can attack next round, but will have to fight something like 5vs7, so I should have relatively good odds. He has a spear on the way as well, but I don't care about spears right now.

What I cannot understand is why he is harassing me at all? That archer was fine, but why does he send more troops my way? An Axe and an Spear - thats another worker or nearly another settler. Either he has an issue with my civ and fears the UU (which is a long way away from getting into play) or I have no clue what that is good for except for slowing him down as well.

India has moved more troops on my borders. 1 Axe, 1 Spear being 1N,1NW of it on a hill and another axe moved to 1W on the city on a forested grass behind a river.

I have an Axe and an Archer 1N of the city on a forested hill and 1 Axe 1SW of it.

I have also built the Oracle, finished Monarchy at the same time and grabbed Feudalism with it. Longbow will appear next turn and should therefore save the city which right now has only 2 warriors for defence. But he has only an axe nearby which can attack, so nothing should happen except for 1 dead warrior maybe.

And for those who don't like my writing above and want a visual help:

x
oS
xC
S

were

x = India troops
o = free plot
S = Serdoa troops
C = Serdoa city

Good job at landing Feudalism. Longbows and vassalage are useful right away and you're one step closer to Guilds.

Update:

I have decided to get rid of some Indian troops - and now I finally had what I wanted setup. So, I attacked them

and won except for one fight. So, I lost 16 hammers and he lost 62 hammers. Ok for me.

Situation now:

The plot where you can see my Axe and my 2 Chariots was occupied before this fight by the Indian troops. He has in his city 2 Archers and 1 Warrior - I would really like to raze it, but I won't be able to, so I probably only pillage him a little bit.

And I tell you, it feels soooo good when you finally get revenge.

You see the city Nicaea in the above shot? Well, it is no more. It got razed by a Chariot via a galley attack. Yeah, my fault for letting it undefended. Not my game.

Was it a 3 move galley? Or did you see it coming but gambled it was empty?

I am not even sure about that zakalwe. I played the last turns in Portugal on my laptop which does have very bad graphics and then got ill when I returned from Portugal. So I might simply have overlooked it.

Either way, I had workboats exploring and knowed that all others are really near (this map is fucking small) and letting a port-city undefended in such circumstances is simply foolish.

You know, sorry for no updates, but this game is simply frustrating me. It wasn't my game to begin with and it does not get better the longer we play on. I have played many turns sloppy, made several bad decisions and overall did not have enough time to invest into it. My bad scouting (this map is sooo small and I didn't realize it until too late) didn't help either.

Maybe to illustrate my point better: I settled a city near Warriorknight in the south to get stone because I had played without resource-indicators and simply had forgot that we had stone directly under the cap. Nothing more to say I guess...

Finished Guilds. If I can get an Iron city going (meaning planting a city in the middle, directly between the two strongest powers which both like to pick on me (well, it feels so, even that they always only took what opportunity did present)).

But thats not why I am posting. It is this coastal blockade

Why is there a blockade without any ship visible?

There is ship not visible to you probably blocking something in the other side of the sea. Blockading range is quite ridiculous.
