FFH PBEM3?

You guys should wait for PBEM1 to finish (or everyone who wants to play in a new game to be killed off lol) so everyone can get on the same patch IMO. Otherwise we'll have people stuck on patch N indefinitely.

I'm on patch O WK.

Also about eras. Seen there are 3 to choose from. What techs do you start with on the 2nd era?

I don't think they should wait, but I do agree that patch O should be the new standard. Might it not be a better idea for those still playing PBEM 1 to wait until their game is finished, so they can then upgrade from N? Or as someone suggested, just have two FFH versions installed, so you can still play.

I've never looked into it because N was the standard when I downloaded FFH, what does O change?

Other than breaking pyre zombies apparently (?)

I'd be happy to play in another one of these. As Bob says, we were talking about this a few days ago, but decided not to go ahead because we couldn't think of an easy solution to the patch issues.

My initial suggestion was to do a OCC, but I liked Bob's Barb world/no settlers idea much better. I'd vote for that. Especially as it is something that is a little bit different from the BTS stuff. I'm also very happy with starting classical era. It helps some civs more than others, but the only ones it really hurts are the rushers, and only the Doviello are really reliant on warrior rushing as an artform.

I'm happy to use just the unused civs. Indeed, even if we open up the field I'll still be picking from amongst them. Banning just the used civ/leader combos also sounds alright. Alternatively...

Unrestricted leaders. Only non-picked civs. No leaders with the adaptive trait. Snakepick. Charismatic Sidar? Agg/Raiders Elohim? Summoner Amurites? Non-Summoning Sheaim? Non-Barbarian Clan? Sounds like an interesting way to add some power to the less powerful civs, and maybe encourage some odd ball strategies.

If someone wants to join up with me as a dedicated lurker or a teammate, I'm happy to take them aboard.

Selrahc,

I may like the role of dedicated lurker/occasional turnplayer more than being on a team by myself. (It seems I'm out of town every other weekend and hate holding the game up) If this game happens would you mind if I joined your side?

Also... I'm all for a crazy game like some of them being thrown out. I was already thinking about what CIV we haven't seen from FFH here yet...

Welcome aboard. More than happy to have you on side.

Fixes some CtDs and freezes in few obscure places in code. Fixes two minor bugs relating to resistance promotions and fear respectively. Fixes Amurite AI wonder preference.

So nothing much, but one of these things ( I'd guess resistance fix ) is apparently enough to break saves.

Hey, that's my line lol

WarriorKnight Wrote:AFAIK, your tracker system is the only method I know that tracks FFH saves. If you would be willing to create a clone of it for this game I'm sure everyone would be extremely grateful.
And this isn't exactly true. I expect Ruff's emailer to work with FFH, since it apparently just scans a pbem save directory for new files with certain name format, without opening said files. I didn't test that ( with putting the tracker online much earlier and all that ) but from description provided I can't see a reason for the contrary. And you can also just track the progress inside a forum thread like guys in PBEM 1 do. Not as pretty, but also seems to work.

I'll wait until 24 hours have passed from the first post to give everyone who wants to sign up a chance to do so. Then we can argue about settings and such.[/quote]

Amelia, do you still have time/interest in this? It was several months ago. And if not - anyone else want to step up?

Bob, Selrahc? Who's declaring the immediate war? lol

Serious stuff: It looks like we definitely have enough players for 1 or maybe even 2 more games, once we decide on patch and options.

The thread's been up for just 14 hours, New Year's Eve, and we're already up to 8/9 signups. If we get a few more, we may be able to simply split the players based on their preferences smile

Patch n:
Bobchillingworth - prefers new civs, no settlers challenge
Selrahc - same as Bob
Reverend Doctor - probably on Selrahc's team
WarriorKnight - can upgrade, prefers less restricted

Patch o:
Sciz
Mr. Yellow - prefers leaders not used
Thoth - prefers unrestricted
Mardoc - prefers unrestricted

Not sure:
Dantski

Probably only Bob, Selrahc, and Sciz are stuck in their current patch versions.

I don't mind waiting until PBEM I finishes before joining another game, but it may be a while until it's over. Personally, if I'm in PBEM I and PBEM III, then I'm not going to be looking for any more games for a long while, so being stuck on patch N and unable to join FFH PBEM IV or whatever doesn't really bother me. If there aren't enough people on N for a full PBEM though then it's a moot point, and I'll just sit this game out.
