[SP0ILERS] Mackoti + Ioan76: Rooservelt of the Netherlands

We meet Lord Parkin - here is his "opening email" ( we didn't answer yet to it ) :

Quote:Greetings mackoti and Ioan76,

It's a pleasure to meet you both! I believe our Warriors encoutered one another a turn or two ago. You're the second civ we've met in this game - it'll probably be no surprise to you that luddite was the first civ we met, since you must have encountered him too by now.

In case you're interested, our nation is located a fair distance to the east of our meeting place. I presume your civilization is somewhere to the west? (If you'd rather not say that's fine, I'm just interested.) Either way, it seems we're not immediate neighbours, so there's not much reason for either of us to be interested in aggression towards the other right away. As a result, I think it would benefit us both to agree to a fairly long-term non-aggression pact. What do you think? We're open to your suggestions as to a renegotiation date... does 1000 BC sound reasonable? We're happy to talk longer if you want. Let us know.

As an initial act of goodwill and friendship, we're happy to let you know that - as you may have guessed for Ind/Cha Egypt - we're currently working on an early Stonehenge build. We realise you're unlikely to be going for this wonder anyway - but we thought we'd let you know just in case, so you can save yourself any wasted hammers. smile

Also, since we're both Industrious civs, it may benefit us both to communicate further about wonder building, if you're interested. It seems that your Roosevelt is the ideal leader for rushing out the Great Lighthouse, so if you're looking to grab this wonder we'd be happy not to contest you for it in return for you not contesting us on some other wonder. The Oracle is another wonder that all the Industrious civs are probably going to be keen on - if you have an interest in this wonder yourself, we may be willing to negotiate a deal here as well, where we don't contest it in return for you not contesting something else. Up to you.

Anyway, that's about all for now, I think. Once again, it's good to meet you, and I hope we'll be able to work out a lasting cooperation that will benefit us both for many years to come.

Kind regards,
Lord Parkin

P.S. Apologies for the delay in this greeting. Usually I'd make contact earlier, but I've had to shift flats all of a sudden - so I've been frantically packing/moving/unpacking the past few days. Haven't had time for anything forum- or diplomacy-related at all! smile

Ouch ... this isn't a very good news ... even an expected one from somebody playing with Egypt ... smile

As an update : our settler is completed and Stonehenge was started ( even too late maybe - 9 turns until it's completed ... if this will happen ... shhh ).

As a personal curiosity : I don't want to lie Lord Parkin about our attempt to build Stonehenge ( I assume this is also not allowed by the rule of a Pitboss ) but I don't want also to share with him this information ... how to proceed ? Just ignore his email and send no response ? huh

I don't think lieing in diplomacy is forbidden. If it is the best move to take is a different story of course.

As an update - our warior found out what seems to be our "rich valley", SE from our capitol.

Macedon switched from Mining to Wheel ... seems that he bet that nobody will play aggresively on this opening phase of the game ... let's hope he's right. bow

Wonder build : Stonehenge -8 turns ( personally didn't have too much hopes to succed in this task ... but who knows ? Anyway - we have a settler produced, if Lord Parkin was really aggresive to grab Stonehenge probably delayed it ... wink ).

A new short update :

- Founded our second city ( Resita ) - on the hill near cows;
- Our capital grows to 3 and now Stonhenge is -5 turns. shhh

Almost nothing happens this turn ... except that ( still ) nobody - Lord Parkin being the most "suspected" one - finnished Stonehenge.

So ... Stonehenge is -4 turns. rolleye

Bad news : we lost the Stonhenge race ... 2 turns too early for us ... bang

Another small update :

- We completed research of Mining - Wheel is next ( 5 more turns until finnish it);
- Another settler is built in Hagi - at least we have enough money now, due to loss of Stonehenge, to research at 100% even with 3 cities. rolleye
- More exploration was performed with our eastern warrior and wandering western scout - but no other player was found yet.

Of course - here is how our small ( for the moment wink ) empire looks like. A new settler is produced on Hagi - and it will claim the gold & rice from south-east.

We plan to upload more pictures after aprox. 10-12 turns ...

Best regards to all our lurkers !
