I believe its all Financial leaders are banned, and you can only select one trait from Creative/Expansive/Spiritual.
Did you mean Philosophical instead of Spiritual Commodore, or did you forget to add that? I think it would make Philo a bit too popular if we left that out of the one trait list.

Hrm, adding Phi means no Gandhi, Peter, or Pericles. I'm fine with adding them to the list.
*edit: And going with the definite but not the maybes the bans are: India Inca Ottomans Egypt Byzantines

I think I'm fine with leaving Phi+ others unbanned. Phi is nice, but I don't find it as game-distorting as cheap workers and granaries, no need for culture buildings, or no anarchy, which is what the other top-tier traits give.

I know what you mean, but put it with creative (Pericles) for example, and it can get a pretty quick start on Great Scientists, or if one player ends up with The Pyramids, then they get a pretty damn strong advantage over others. Again with Gandhi, it enables them quick swaps to caste/pacifism which others cannot and gain a big advantage.
We make the cottage economy choice weaker by banning financial, but we leave the strong choice of a Specialist Economy completely unhindered. I think we have to put it on the same level as spiritual/creative/expansive otherwise I think it will not be balanced enough.

so we are 4 and out ther are pericles gandi and peter if first 3 get all philo last will just get industrios which in my book its not weaker than philo and he has an uper hand.
I'd say PHI, IND, and SPI are all about the same value (and depending on difficulty, IMP too). If you ban some of those you're just losing variety, if you ban all of them everyone has to be ORG/AGG/CHA/PRO.

*shrug* Up to you guys. I won't be picking Phi, so if you guys want to split Pericles, Peter, and the disappointingly non-alliterative Gandhi that's fine.

I agree with Seven. My issue is that if we start banning some, then the line between balanced and imbalanced becomes quickly blurred.
I agree with 1 of EXP and CRE to an extent as they are a little more helpful, but to only restrict Spi and leave equal powered traits free makes it just a little silly. We could probably have this discussion for ages and not come to a defined point. Maybe we should just go back to No Financial & No Sury? That may be the easiest line to draw in the end.
