My current thinking is that it's best just to miss some potential incense turns, i.e. finish the FP farm, then move to and plantation the incense without roading. Still need to decide whether to road on the way back or not; moving over the hill twice without roading it seems wasteful of worker turns but roading it delays useful tile improvements.
Right, but the net effect on the incense still the same. N, NE, then next turn start plantationing, whereas now it's N, then next turn NE and start plantation.

Is there any precedent for what to do with regards to scouting? It doesn't feel fair to just take everything I've learned as given, but equally if my scout gets eaten on turn 2 it doesn't feel fair to not have access to any of the scouting I did before. For now I've compromised on leaving the warrior at home but moving the scout the same way as before.

I don't think this situation has come up before. What you're suggesting seems fair.
Besides - how *certain* are you that I left everything identical? .

Just go scout. Don't worry about it.

Don't you touch my shinies
Random mechanics question: if a jungle grows on a tile in the fog, does anyone know whether or not it shows up until you scout the tile again? I'm trying to plan second city sites and there are a couple of tiles that are worryingly vulnerable to getting jungled...

That's akin to asking "if a tree falls in the forest, and there is no-one around to hear, does it make a sound"
AKA: Damnfino.
I think you get the map update, but I'm not 100% sure.

Dastards! It's as bad as giving one team a plains floodplain to start with!
