More sandboxing!
Attempt 4: Mediation->Mining->Bronze Working, Workboat->Warrior->Worker, city plan A - Mediation/Growth/Workboat same--switch from plains hill to silk after workboat finishes
- Grow T12, work plains hill
- Mining T13
- Warrior T13, switch to Worker, switch from plains hill to coast (BW 11 turns, Worker 6 turns)
- Worker T19, switch to Settler, worker mines sheep
- Mine completes T23, switch to Mine, worker moves 1E and chops
- BW T24, move to Wheel
- Settler T27, switch to Worker
- Chop T27, Worker completes T29
That's a surprise--this only gets the settler out 1 turn slower than the BW first plan, and the chop doesn't even go into the settler. There might be a bit of tweaking on what the third tile is while building the worker, but right now this is my preference.

Very nice sandboxing. Glad I have someone ded-lurking me that's good at it. It's one of those things that I never could figure out...any time I've tried to use the mapmaker to do something like that I'd screw it up. I only had ever attempted a couple times, but it just wasn't something I ever felt like really doing. Though if I have some time, I may play the one you made. Just won't have time until tomorrow, since I'm going out to a party tonight after work.
But so far, that #4 you posted does certainly look promising. Thanks!

I don't know if I'm good at it--the only thing I'm sandboxing in this setup is the fat cross of the capital--it's even surrounded by peaks

So here's our start after logging in, settling, and moving the scout:
I'm going to wait a few to finish the turn, since need to get absolutely sure which tech to start with. Unless you end up commenting sometime in the next few hours (ie. before I go to bed), I'll likely log back in and choose Meditation and then end the turn.

You don't need to choose a tech until turn 4, but don't rush this turn anyway!

I haven't done anything with this game since my last sandbox, since I couldn't think of any other options to try after seeing how good the 4th sandbox was--have you done any other sandboxing while waiting for this game to get started?

No, I was busy most of the weekend so didn't have a chance to do so. Other than very briefly attempting it one other game, I've never actually bothered with sandboxes.
But I did also like that Attempt 4 you did. Can't think off the top of my head right now what else to even try.

So this is just the way the exploration is going at the moment. Going to move NE one more time next turn and then start circling to the NW, I think. GermanJojo is the only one who didn't settle his city yet, which I'd expect he'll be doing this turn. If he doesn't, that's one crazy start.

Wait, why are we working the plains hill? My sandbox 4 has us still working the lake, then growing onto the plains hill!
Edit: I don't know how much of a change it'll be if we fix it right now--we'll grow 1 turn later, but we'll get the workboat a couple turns early? My micro plan worked perfectly, so we might end up either putting one extra turn into a warrior or wasting a worker turn--I'm not sure.
