Well, my feelings towards EitB is that is is kinda balanced. There aren't a lot of OP civs, even Volanna ain't better than India is in regular Civ, which means the strongest civ one could play. Most of it comes down to player skill still, at least thats what I think.
The problem with pitboss is the difference in how turns work, sequential turns etc. And as far as I know there is no work around with these things. Even if you ban blinding light (which means making more civs and religions useless at the same time, so ain't at all desirable) magic is still broken and would be no fun to play.
Playing the AI is way more boring than in civ though, unless you've got a handcrafted scenario that is, and even then FFH AI is way more exploitable. Thats why I wouldn't participate in a human vs AI game.

I'm happy to play both games if there's enough interest in each. A friendly casual Pitboss vs AI (with Molach, Ichabod, ...) where I can learn a thing or two, and a free-for-all PBEM (with Qgqqqqq, Yell0w?, ...) where I can get my ass kicked.

Not sure how anyone can get worked up about a game vs AI. Would definitely just be a fun casual game.

Should be doable if we have some lurkers, or one of the players could take on two roles temporarily.

Sounds like it could be workable. I like the idea of having the Mercurians still available, but it may be difficult to execute.

I could actually have one of you start as the Mercurians, if you want. It's a fairly simple matter to execute. Pre-placing Hyborem would be neat, but he will quickly ruin most of the evil AI's land with Hell Terrain (the AC will rise pretty quickly with him in the field). I'd also need some idea of where you want the game to fall on the "fair" vs. "insane brutality" scale of difficulty.

I'll keep it friendly. We give each other advice ( I assume we play with diplo within our team ...) but let the others play the civs as they want. So perhaps each keep a thread for their civ, and we have one thread for team and coordination/warfare tech path stuff.
Looking over the list of good civs, my first thought was "hey, I really am not a nice person after all"...I always seem to play neutral or evil civs in this game. I guess I'm kinda new with all these good civs, will be interesting to go into depth with any of them.
Basium or no depends on how many players we get, I guess, 5 or 6.
Difficulty level - well playing as a team means we have a massive advantage in tactics and force concentration, but too hard might make it a pain at start. It usually gets easier as game progresses and we get more tools (magic/überunits) to play with - so "fairly brutal" perhaps?
Always war - perhaps, I'd like a little distance from nearest enemy in this case - or perhaps that we just agree pre-game to declare on turn 50 and never give peace a chance, so time to plan a little and set up defenses but still starting out normally.

I'm interested in playing either PBEM or bitboss, both fine for me. I'm quite new to multiplayer games (heard about this topic from civfanatics). I have only played some MP like 3-4 years ago.
But anyway, count me in - would be happy to play!

Can I suggest editing the first post and/or starting a new thread to make it clear that a game is being proposed (and needs what? One more player?).
Also, if you don't mind having multiple iterations of the mod, I can make the AI edits you mention.

I can do a map for either a pitboss or a PBEM (I won't go all-out on a PBEM map like I usually do though), but I need to know:
A. Settings
B. Who is playing, in what order & as what civs
C. FFH or EitB, and if EitB v9 or 10?

Done.

A. Depends on the type of game we end up running, will see if we get any more replies in the next few days.
B. Again, will wait a few days and see if anyone else signs up.
C. EITB I think - doesn't FFH bug out in multiplayer? As for version, I don't mind, though it'd be nice if it were consistent if there's more than one game.

Not that I want to destroy your idea Parking but if this is going to be a PBEM you can count me in, I'd really like to try EitB v10.
