So was just looking at civstats and Serdoa is logged in.....and his score just went up. Guess he's the first lucky player to pop a tech from a hut.
EDIT: And this turn CH also now just popped a tech. So that's two people now.

So popped in to grab the Demos now that Gavagai has finally settled his city:
Found some more gold and a nice flood plains river stretch. I'll head to that Gold tile next, and explore northward a bit and then likely circle back SE after a short distance (probably go north until I meet someone).
This area sure does have a lot of random scattered Peaks. Kind of annoying, but the land itself so far looks pretty good.

So this turn Molach, CH, & Barteq all got a score increase from researching a first-tier tech. This means that only Adrien is left as being my competition for getting Meditation. If we are both researching it, then it will be a 50/50 coin flip as to who founds Buddhism. Much better odds than I originally anticipated if there were more of us Mysticism starters going for the religion.
plako is also apparently going for something 2nd tier. Maybe BW since he started with Mining.
REM will finish his first-tier tech next turn if that's what he is going for, and Gavagai/Bacchus would finish the turn after. Since they delayed their city plants to move around.
I really, really, REALLY hope I do not have Gavagai as a neighbor and such that he moved closer to me. From PB22 and now into PB25, we DO NOT make good neighbors. LOL
As for exploration, the far north is kinda deserty...but with quite a lot of flood plains. So even though it has those desert hills, it has quite a bit of flood plains to offset them. This land is for the distant future though, since it is likely more than halfway between myself and whatever neighbor I have to the north.
I'm not good enough with these map sizes and such yet to know about how far apart our capitals are, but based on how PB18 was....it's likely my northern neighbor isn't more than a couple scout moves to the north. Though I could always end up walking right past their capital and never meeting them if they are a bit off to the north-west. Next turn I plan to move to that Sheep Hill and start my slow clock-wise path.

So with Adrien & I being the only two people now who have not yet finished researching a tech, this coming turn is the big one. I'd assume he's going for a religion tech. If he's going for Monotheism like me, then it'll be a coin flip. If he's going for Poly, then I'll get Buddhism and he'll get Hinduism.
I was going to start the scout circling clockwise, but instead he kept pushing north. Next turn he'll go N-NE to run into a coast (not really visible in the screenshot) and that is where he'll likely start to pull his u-turn.

So I stared at the screen for a minute, as I was planning to go N-NE with the scout....but then decided if I went NW onto the Sheep hill that it would open up a bit of land to the west and then I could go N-NE an then come SE-E along the coast afterwards to continue my planned route....
However, as you can see, moving onto the hill was a good plan, because it allowed me to see this Hut. Which also means my planned route towards that northern coast will be slightly delayed...but I'm ok with that.
And Adrien did not have a score increase this turn, and I did....and Buddhism is mine!!!
So in 12 turns, my borders will expand again....hitting that Peak and opening up a good amount of visibility to my east.
I also grow next turn, and get my warrior. The warrior will head SE to explore a bit. I'll recheck my SIM later by running it again, but I basically need the warrior back inside the city on T26 when the city grows to Size 4. So he can wander as far as he wants as long as he's able to make it back by that turn.

So apparently I'm the only one crazy enough to go Warrior first, such as to grow on Size 8. LOL
Also, the Hut gave me a Scout!!! That's pretty awesome, actually. Since it seems like there's a good amount of huts out here, and I was kinda hoping to be able to keep exploring north/northwest to find a neighbor....this allows me to do that while also doing that clock-wise rotation around my capital that I know I also need to do.
So the new scout started the NW movements this turn. The original scout will head NE-NE next turn, move along that coast a bit and circle back home.
Oh, and Adrien did indeed reach Poly this turn for nabbing Hinduism.
Here's the demos for this turn. Wanna save this one for posterity, since it'll likely be one of the few times I'm #1 in Pop & MFG and #2 in GNP.

So I was just playing around with my worldbuilder sandbox, and was going to insert the terrain I have explored, and noticed that I can't. The neighboring civs are too close, and even my own capital is too close to itself...as it is 15 tiles wrapping around the world to hit itself again. And I've currently explored 15 tiles to my north in the actual game.
Is this normal? Is my sandbox calculating things correctly for my timing of stuff? I mainly need to make sure I don't miss my marks on my plan, but I would also like to build out a bit of the land around me. But that doesn't seem to be possible.

edit: if you were playing with the original version of the sandbox, the world size was probably set to "Standard" because the sandbox mirrors the main save's settings and we forgot to set that until right before the game was launched. so maybe that's what you're seeing?
Maybe this?

I had thought of that and did check. I assume you are referring to the below settings....
According to this, it is set as Huge. So I don't understand why the actual map when I go into WB mode displays as so small such that I can't expand my land without running into the 4 little islands for the other civs that were put into the file...or without simply running into my own land due from the world wrap.

The "world size" variable in the worldbuilder file is what dictates technology costs, the map itself can be any number of tiles without that being a problem.
Joey might be willing to increase the number of tiles in your sandbox if you ask nicely...
