To be extremely nitpicky at Khan: Should this be numbered as PBEM 74a and 74b, rather than 74/75? I've noticed a number of these subdivided PBEMs and am not sure what qualifies them as such.
Also, I have no idea how this points system for snake pick works; is there a reference I can look at?

PBEM45 and PBEM53 used one, according to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...edit#gid=0.

Thank you El Grillo. This is exactly it, albeit the points may be amended slightly by the mapmaker. That particular point system assumes a water heavy map. The mapmaker (and lurkers) would be able to amend this slightly. For example, on first inspection, IMP is probably undervalued.
To be honest, the points system was just an idea and not set in stone. If the other players in whichever game I end up in wanted something else, then I would be willing to discuss this further.
picklepikkl: Noted and amended, thank you.

The point system also assumed a Toroidal world wrap for those games, which particularly affects Imp and Org.

Aww I have too many games now really but I really liked the idea of a points set up...
Also reading back your posts splitting it into 2 skill tiers might be better than time zones, and you realistically then use the same map and compare how others played/settled your area.

Do we have two identifiable skill tiers here?

Then sign up and we'll do points for (at least) one of the games. Most players signed up with that in the settings so I doubt they'll now object. A really evil muffin just helps round out a game, y'know?

Good point, thank you. It would be most appreciated if you would have some input on the points and how they should be distributed. Clearly, you've got a very good handle on Civ! Of course, you could also try your hand at mapmaking too if you wanted...

The players here have less than a handful of games between them as far as I can tell.

I'd prefer the points based snake pick; even though it seems like it might be toroidal map
PBEM12 - Shaka of Inca [6/6*] PBEM18 (Apps) - Augustus of China [4/4*] PBEM31 - Hannibal of Greece [jnt2-4/5*] PBEM72 - Willem of Oranje - Dutch [3/4*] PBEM74A -Catherine of Babylon [4/4][*ended early]

Well, the two of us and Adrian is probably, qua our results in previous games, fair to call intermediates while I don't recall any previous games from El Grillo, greenline and picklepikkl from which to guesstimate their strength rating (and or any mentions of what strength they'd have in SP, which can make for a rough guide-line), so I'd be inclined to place them and Gingereagle in the 'lower tier'
