Ok some predictions:

First game France 3 Romania 1. France are that much better than Romania.

Winners: France. While probably not the best team, they should win their group handy, and they've a relatively straight forward path to the semis if they do, playing a third place team in the second round, and then the winners between runners up of groups E & F in the quarters. If I were going on teams alone I'd say Spain, but they've a tricky group which they may not win.

Total goals: 125 (Euro 2012 was 2.46 per game in similar weather conditions, World cup 2010 was 2.27 in hotter conditions, and World Cup 2014 was 2.67. I see no great tactical evolution to change this kind of number exactly so I went with 2.46 {which is the average of the three} and rounded to the nearest whole goal).

Top scorer: Ronaldo. There's goals in group F, and while Portugal are too one dimensional to go all the way I think, they should manage the quarters.

Edit: I upped my goals total, undercounted the number of games being played. Dodgy maths.

Just in case you missed the rules or if they aren't clear, here's some clarifications.

The goals total includes all successful penalties in shootouts.

In the knockout stages, you are free to predict a draw but must designate who will win the shootout.

If a result is reached after extra time, that is the result which predictions will be judged against, not the score after 90 minutes.

You can change predictions and I like the extra uncertainty of adding penalty goals in to the total, I like how it worked for the world cup so I want to try it again
