Does copper shake things up at all? What do you think of the barb subs I put floating around? (Joke, but I was tempted for the trololololol)
Reply

I actually didn't bother looking for copper because I was too lazy (or I possibly mixed up Mining and BW)

that's an um... interesting placement

it makes a city grabbing the pigs far stronger, and means I shouldn't be in any danger of being rushed...

You wouldn't be able to get the pigs and share copper, although you would be able to get the corn south 2nd ring or the clams first ring.

True; that makes settling that area much less of a priority.

Also, I'm disappointed it took me this long to realize I met Khan first and not Jowy  smoke smoke smoke

my new city:

Sputnik (the name of both the spacecraft and the rocket that carried it, a modified Soviet ICBM) was the first man made object to orbit the Earth. The actual satellite didn't do much beyond transmit a radio signal while in orbit, but that alone was enough to help study the radiation belts in the upper atmosphere. It also has the Civ 4 tech quote for Satellites.

for in game news, it appears that I was last to a second city, despite going for what I thought was a fast, growth heavy opening. Here are the possible scenarios that occurred

1. I screwed up my start and/or pick
2. Everyone else went for 1 worker and 1 settler rather then two workers before a settler
3. My start location sucks compared to everyone elses  shhh
4. Something completely different

Still not feeling too bad as I had my third worker finishing this turn. Then I can lend the cows to Sputnik while I grow V2 to size three and then I can chop another settler. The copper means I don't have to bother with the deer too as V2 will have three good tiles to work.

someone asked for t25 overview shots so here they are:

my current territory (need to scout more to the south and the east). city 3 will go next to the corn.

part of my core area and the borderlands with Khan

Khan's current settlements (note how evil mapmaker gave him floodplains and didn't give me any shhh )

we got in 5 turns this weekend and a bunch of things happened. some of them will be covered with pictures:

On a single turn, I met Ruff's scout and ran into El Grillo's borders while also founding my third city.

Vostok (another name for both a rocket series and spaceship) was the first space system capable and used for bringing a person into outer space. This didn't actually meet the definition of 'spaceflight' at the time, though, as the cosmonaut inside would have to parachute out of the return capsule instead of riding it all the way down to the ground.

Khan settled his third city a turn or two before me. El Grillo and Ruff are still sitting on two from what I can tell.

My tech path was originally leaning towards Polytheism, but I backpeddled when Hindiusm was founded in a distant land and decided to just go straight for currency instead. Guessing who founded it wasn't difficult:

Yeah, having river silver that close to my capital would be quite nice  rolleye .

so Ruff apparently got circumnav despite me having cleared a path from the left to the right side of the map beforehand. On toroidal maps do you have to go top to bottom? I'm confused
