New tiles!

Scout will move E-NW next turn in hopes of spotting extra food to go with a Corn/Silver city.

Found my Northern neighbour:

I don't plan to make contact right now, but will swing the Scout back East.

In other news, I finished the WB and hooked the Fish last turn, then made the (questionable?) decision to spend 2t growing to Size2 before starting the Worker. It delays the Worker by a turn, however with 4h into a Warrior I can pop it in 1t whenever I need. (I know Barbs aren't on, but it's not inconceivable that someone would go Warrior first to see if they can catch someone else out)

BW completes at EoT and we have Copper:

3rd ring is pretty nice, so I don't have to worry about prioritising grabbing it with a city - esp w/CRE.

Bringing the Scout back through the NE & I think I've found my Copper city site:

Hey Dreylin, this seemed like an interesting game. Would you mind if I dedlurk you here?

Curious to the lack of love for Mehmed/Native America. Which seemed like an insanely good combo for this start.

What are the other player's picks?

Hey Gawdzak, I'm happy to have you aboard, but we might want to consult the other players if you're planning to be active. Since this is a sort-of mini-tournament, they might feel like I'm bringing a ringer in for the second round. Since I'm a replacement anyway, I'd rather not make any assumptions IYSWIM.

Picks are:

Khan mehmed of natives
El Grillo wang job of Spain
Greenline ghandi of Dutch
Jowy Hatty of Byzantium

D is
Pickle julius of Carthage
Dreylin Louis of Portugal
Adrien Hatty of Byzantium
Ginger eagle mehmed of natives
D this "Losers" this game & C is the mirror "Winners" game.

Going into the game I'd been thinking to try an aggressive strategy, so Julius/Carthage was my first pick, but after that Carracks seemed like a decent option for how the map was looking.

With IND though, I might go with your strategy from PB32; Pyramids into Police State and go aggressive early. I'd certainly like to have crippled Adrien before he can get 'phracts on the move.

I haven't done much planning so far, which is not generally helping my typical early game weakness. (I should have gone straight for the Worker, since being able to 1t the Warrior is not exactly important with Barbs off.)

Anyway, tentative short-term plan is to grow to size 3 (2t & completing Warrior), chop the NE forest into a second Worker and then build a Settler. Tech path will be something like Agr-AH-Wheel. Capital is likely to be a Hybrid with the limited number of flat riverside (reminds me a lot of PB32, actually), but I'm still looking for a nice river near me.

E-SE next turn, across the Lumbermilled Dyes.

I was surprised that the lumbermill gave +0/1/1 not 0/1/0

That's because it's Riverside, right? The Forest isn't there to take away the 1c that it usually replaces.

Might actually be worth keeping for the extra Hammer, since I already have the Dyes at Loafers. Would be a 1h for 3c trade, I think.
